New Poser Users Help F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 03 6:15 am)
New to Poser? Ask questions here for expert help!
Try saving your files without generating external binary morph targets (turn it off in General Preferences) and see it fixes the problem. Do load the PP2012 service pack update, it may correct some of your issues. PMD's are known to become corrupted and, IIRC, those issues were addressed and corrected in PP2014. I, personally, do not use PMD generated files when saving characters back to the Library. However, if you plan to distribute character sets, it is a good idea to incorporate PMDs for final file size and speed.
I don't know if upgrading to PP2014 will solve the issues you are facing; seems that something is interfering with the morph++ function. Where is M4 and morphs++ installed? I have mine still located in an old Poser 7 linked to PP2014 & 11 Pro. However, Poser 7 is nowhere within Programs Files folder, UAC can cause problems to the Poser app.
My M4 issues predate my change of computer. Previously M4 and all morph injections were in the main (and only) runtime so within program files folder. It didn't work then. Since I changed my computer M4 and indeed all library content is on the old imported runtime which sits on my desktop. It doesn't work now either. Interestingly V4 and her all morphs have always worked perfectly and still do.
which particular morph packages are giving you problems? I have encountered one Orc morph package which does have issues when loaded; I believe the vendor might be GhostOfMacbeth, possibly RawArt. I would need to check. However, all my other 3rd party morph packages, free and purchased, do work without issues. If you do go as far as reinstalling M4, perform an initialization after each morph package, don't attempt installing the separate packages and then running initialization. It doesn't work that way, at least, that is the official word from DAZ3D. If you can provide a listing of morphs that don't work properly for you and I'll see if I have them in my collection. It will be interesting to see if they work on my system.
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to help me on this - I really appreciate it. The characters that are not working/morphing in respect of their bodies are some from Mortem Vetus (Toerag and Lladraks). The heads morph just fine. I have got figures from GhostofMacbeth and Rawart and they look OK without the body morphing. Strangely I have another Mortem Vetus figure (Grobblers) and that is the only one that changes the body shape as it should. Even with this latter however there are no morphs++ in the parameter dials such as I have with V4/A4.
I purchased V4 and her morphs in 2012 and they came in the form of .exe files which I installed into an "unpack" folder and manually installed in my runtime. I purchased M4 and his morphs (++, Creature Creator, Ethnic Faces) in 2014 and by that time Daz was using zip files. I'm now not sure if I "initialized" them as I just extracted them and manually placed in my runtime. Could you advise me on how to initialize if I reload them from scratch. Thanks again.

I have Poser Pro 2012 running on a 64 bit system. Until 2 months ago I had Win 7. V4.2 and A4 worked perfectly but M4++ morphs never loaded in that they were missing on the parameter dials. Strangely the heads of 3rd party characters (Orcs Goblins etc) morphed OK but most bodies did not. I have read previous posts on similar issues and have run the M4 batch file but to no effect. I had only one runtime.
2 months ago my old computer became unwell and I have replaced this time using Win 10. I have installed Poser from the original CD and imported my old runtime. I have not as yet run any updates (SR3.1). There is no Daz content on the new runtime which I never use. I still have the problem of M4 morphs not loading plus this time even the morphed heads revert back if I save a scene/figure and reopen. I have changed the external binary morph targets to compressed file in General Preferences and the head morphs are OK when the saved file is reopened. I would really love to get M4 and his morphs working normally.
