Subject: Materials question

I like to apply a sweaty skin look to my pose characters. To do this, I use a method I found somewhere on the net, where I go in and modify nodes by adding spots, gloss, adjust colors etc... basically, it requires me to make about a dozen modifications to the material nodes. It is time consuming and a pain in the butt. I would like to be able to save just that sweaty skin look and be able to apply it to any figure with a single click from my library. Is there a way to set that up? I mean, I know it is done all the time with all materials from content creators, but I have never been able to figure out how to create and save these custom materials myself. Can anyone point to a tutorial or anything? Thanks!

Need to be able to edit these posts. *poser, not pose characters. Also, I have to do these dozen adjustments to EACH BODY PART! That is why it is so time consuming, a royal pain in the butt.

The only script available to perform such a fuction is bagginsbill"s VSS prop. It is dated, but it is versatile for creating your own node arrangement and applying to all material zones at once. Haven't used it in a while, though.

I know there is an option with this. http://www.runtimedna.com/EZSkin-2.html

EZSkin 2 only applies an optimization of skin shaders established by bagginsbill, enhancing texturing in response to IDL rendering. EZMat would be the only current script to build shaders for both figures and props. Now, if you wanted to build a set of original shaders that is applicable to any figure, then VSS Prop is the script you want to use.

Okay, thanks anyway guys. I am not interested in spending the next four years learning an online self taught degree in shader manipulations and python scripting to do this. If I cannot learn it and implement it in 10 minutes, it is useless to me.

There is a way to ,ake it easier, usually you have 1 or two main textures for a character, when you edited one bodypart right click, select all > Copy and then go to thenext bodypart with the same main texture an past the copied nodes. Repeat until all parts with that texture are done and start over with the next main texture.

Thanks folks! I do appreciate the help. The manual for EZ mat is 46 pages long in pdf format, and written by someone who does not speak English as their native language, which also ads to the difficulty in deciphering complicated instructions. I have a full time job, and in my spare time, and that is limited, I like creating Poser animations. THAT is extremely time consuming too. It is kind of like being hooked on a MMORPG like WOW or something. I just do not have the time to learn to do this while pouring over a 46 page manual. I want to buy it, download it, install it, read the text readme file, and use it. All I want to do, is ad spots to the specular node, and gloss to reflection node of any skin texture, and cover all skin parts from any given texture map with a double click from a library icon. Nobody can or has produced something that does this which does not require more than a simple 5 paragraph readme .txt??? I would not think it would be that difficult for a python programmer to come up with a utility that can do this. But, I have no idea how to do any programming at all, so maybe not. But if anybody is considering building a utility to sell, this is needed. Just keep it simple!

Poser 11 has the ability to add tattoos and skin as layers:-- "NEW! Layered Materials. Create layered materials to simulate the way light interacts in complex surfaces. It’s also great to make tattoos or scars." I Haven't tried this yet, but I guess this new feature might be adaptable for quickly adding beads of sweat?
