Subject: Flash (KB3132372) / Poser 10 crash on start bug ::: information please

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Thu, 14 January 2016 at 4:45 AM · edited Mon, 17 February 2025 at 11:41 PM

I am very sorry to bring up this subject yet again, but on behalf of all users affected by this bug (and it affects various Windows applicatrions, not only Poser), to try to keep this matter current, PLEASE try to find and tell us a date as to when and where a new clean fully-working update or upgrade of Internet Explorer Flash will be available, which will work correctly with Poser 10 and with all other software that has been mentioned in reports of crashes caused by the notorious KB3132372 Internet Explorer Flash auto-upgrade.

After KB3132372 came, I automatically received a Flash upgrade, KB3133431. I do not know if it corrected the bug with any other software, but it did not get my Poser 10 working again. My Poser 10 has not run for the last 12 days.

What is the difference between Adobe Flash and Internet Explorer Flash?

The difference is, Adobe Flash is for all Browsers except IE and IE Flash is only for this and that is the one that is affecting Poser 10 and other software.

I seem to recall a notice from nerd that Microsoft and SM are both working on this.

I have just found this download, dated 5 January 2016: is it the correct version?

My PoserPro2014 is working fine after a fix was put in on Windows10 and there is another upgrade for Poser that automatically triggered.

But my Windows 10 Home is allegedly up-to-date with updates, and my Poser 10 still crashes on starting. Please. we need an "estimated time of arrival" for a new properly debugged IE Flash. Please.

If my Poser 10 needs an upgrade, where to get it from?

Huolong ( ) posted Thu, 14 January 2016 at 10:53 PM

My Poser came up without any changes to Poser, after the IE issue had been dealt with. I called GeekSquad to debug the computer where they identified the IE bug as a Windows problem, not a Poser problem. I waited a week and then have logged in without difficulty, so I assume that IE was altered to solve the problem.

On 9 January 2016 I tried to get rid of this nuisance thus: I uninstalled my existing Adobe Flash and downloaded and re-installed Adobe Flash, but my Poser 10 still won't run.

Google search found this place to download Internet Explorer Flash: http://www.sothink.com/product/swfcatcher/ie/; I downloaded it in the last hour, but I did not install it.

My "Control Panel/All Control Panel Items/Programs and Features" lists in alphabetical order many programs including Adobe Flash; it does not list Internet Explorer Flash; but it does not list Internet Explorer itself either, but Internet Explorer works on my computer, so I know that my computer has Internet Explorer installed.

I have found Geek Squad (which Huolong mentioned above) http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/, but how do they operate, and where are they based, and how to call them, and what should I ask them to do, and how much do they charge? I am northern England (UK).

Huolong wrote "after the IE issue had been dealt with", but how did he deal with it?

I have Windows 10 Home.

For "Internet Explorer Flash" hereinabove, read "Internet Explorer Flash Player", if that is the right name.

For internet access I use Firefox.

Geek Squad is a subsidiary of Best Buy, Inc. I believe Huolong is referring to the old IE 11 issues which caused Poser 10/PP2014 not to run. Those were solved with SR patches afterwards. Make sure you have the latest SR 5.2 installed; if you used the SM Download Installer, there should be an Update tab when you open the app, otherwise, here is the link: http://my.smithmicro.com/poser-10-updates.html.

I am trying to use this link, but it is downloading the Poser matter at about 1.5 kilobytes per second, and at that rate the whole Poser update will take over a WEEK. (I am in England.)

I have just paused the downloader and then restarted it. Download speed suddenly became about 20 Kbytes/sec.

Some time after, download speed went back to about 1.5 Kbytes/sec. I just now, again paused the download, then restarted it. Download speed promptly speeded up to 20 to 30 Kbytes/sec.

The reload finished, and I reinstalled Poser 10 from it, and it runs and renders. Out of the darkness at last.

My current Poser version is 10.0.5.28925 .

What is Superfly, that I have seen mentioned? This new version uses Firefly.

How can I stop shadowing on the display?

Jules53757 ( ) posted Sat, 16 January 2016 at 10:46 AM

FireFly is the main renderer in Poser 11/pro 11 and it is based on the Renderer that is used in Blender, lots of differences to FireFly but this is also available.
