Subject: Coloring Book

So I want to create images that could be coloring like your classic coloring book. Using the outline and b/w comic setting.

BUT... does anyone know the best settings/lights to get what I'm looking for?

Thank for the help.

Haven't tried this ... but in theory. Adjust the lines to your liking, but the lighting might be best as an ibl light set low. At least give it a try and let us know.

Another way you can try is something like this.

Depending on the version of poser you are using. But with firefly go to render settings. Choose manual settings. Here you turn off cast shadows, Subsurface. and to the right there is a check mark where you can turn on "Toon outline" choose the desired pen width.

For the objects you are rendering make them all white in the diffuse and give them a white ambient color with a setting of 1. Make the ground plane invisible and then render and you get a pretty decent result i think.

I'm using Poser 11.

Is there a trick or does anyone know a way to turn all the textures in the scene white at once instead of having to go into each items list of materials?

Ah, ok. Toon rendering is available as a separate "space" in Poser 11. Give me a couple minutes and I'll get you some screen shots. I think you will be very pleased!

Here is a very basic tutorial ... bare bones as to how to create comics directly in Poser 11.

SlideOne.jpg

Also adjust the lighting as you see fit and the shadows as well. You can do colored comics as well.

Slide four of course should be adjusted before the render. But you get the idea. Hope this helps.

Of course for a coloring book some things would have to made white before render (the hair and clothing for example.). But for the most part you have the comic settings do most of the work for you.

Nice boni, had forgotten about the comic render, think its faster to do it your way than mine. Really like that feature in Poser. Find it very difficult to do in other packages, so definitely a bonus in Poser i think, and its very fast :D

At this point ... Poser/Photoshop(or a program like it)/Manga Studio will give you pro quality comics in a short time. 😄
