Hi, For years, (or at least as long as I've had her) I've held the belief, espoused both publicly and privately, that Victoria 1.0 is "ugly" and untill last weekend I had no cause to change my opinion, untill, A) I chastised some redneck in an earlier thread for saying far less flattering things about Dina :) and B) I began to really experiment with textures, bumps and lights, close up. The above image is using Vickie's "base" mesh, I say this because this is what Anton used to ship the "femina" morphs, and as such, she's completely devoid of all morphs save for those in groin area. I then added Dave's "emily" textures to both head and body, Steffy Z's "Asia" lips, eyes, bumps and light, and topped it off with Mike's wedge lifted from D~Mentia's 7of9 for Vickie model. Having spent a while messing about with lights, etc, when the above image came out of the other side of the render process I was stunned, because at least to my eyes, (on my laptop, which seems to have a higher brighness than the PC at work) it was one of the most simply beautifull images/faces I've seen all year. So, allow me to appologise both humbly and profusely for having ever slighted one so beautifull as you. later jb

Yes, she is beautiful....what more can I say? Genny

I've liked her basic looks all along. This one's lovely, but I'd turn down the bump map on the lips.

JB, Like you, I really slammed on Victoria about her face, when she came out. As I've recently been playing with her and creating several Asain characters, such as Harumi here, I agree with you, she can be a good mesh to use to shape new figures from. Now if only I can get the patience to skill up on her body some more, and if there was ever interest, I might actually offer my Victoria figures in the freestuff for people to play with. Jack PS: Hair x Kozaburo(sp?, clothing x ISO, modifed texture by Maya and I, Harumi by me...

I recall posting somewhere that Michael's features were all too exaggerated. dan.jpg That was, of course, before I found out Mike's head was cast from DAZ president Dan Farr... (apologies, Dan)

Poppi ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2001 at 7:08 PM

Oh, my...lol...I slammed Michael's face too. And, Vicki....was so very embarrassed to find out that their faces were based on Dan and his wife. Sigh...sometimes, I am the queen of the "faux pas".

Bia ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2001 at 7:24 PM

hahaha...that's funny guys...oh well, they probably expected someone to say they weren't their type, right? I think the asian charcter is quite beautiful kammerer...I would love to see more of these. So, are you saying that if I load Vicky from Poser directly (Daz version) that other morphs will not take effect? I don't understand what You mean by haveing better success using the femina mesh instead. Can you explain that for this numb skull?

procchi ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2001 at 9:41 PM

I agree with Bia.. Harumi's quite lovely.. I'd love to see her and/or her sisters posted in freestuff?

I think a large part of the reason is because the camera makes them look awful until you change the setting to 120 or so. I often use Mike without any face morphs to play around with new textures and he looks pretty good to me. I tend to mess around with Vickie's dials though because her eyes are to obvious that you haven't done anything to her. :o)

duanemoody ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2001 at 11:44 PM

(gratuitous plug) That's why I did the 'eyefix' morph for Vicky that rotates her eyesockets back to parallel with each other, like most regular caucasian womens' do.

Duane, When I met Dan at the Game Developer's Conference last spring, I KNEW that I'd seen him before. But it wasn't until I got home and looked at my computer that I figured out where. :: chuckle:: He is actually modest about it. Carolly

I thought Vicki was so ...well, ugly that it took me over a month to use her. I realized shortly thereafter that you can get some incredible looking characters if you experiment enough. This is my "Sakari" character (Marketplace). I've not used Posette since discovering the capabilities of Vicki.

AprilYSH ( ) posted Tue, 09 October 2001 at 3:29 AM

i don't know, i must be slow cos i haven't got tired of using posette and all the morphs out there yet, and i haven't used them all yet... you guys must have been at this years now? :) by the way Praxis, did you mean "femina" by Traveller? Anton did a "femina" too? what was it? so many toys, so little time! :D

Argh! Twilight zone time :) Correct me if I'm wrong but I always figured them for the same person... The "femina" in question was the one from morphworld 3.0, which itself is part of bbay, home of Anton Kissel designs... Of course I could be completely wrong, (it wouldn't be the first time :) later jb

AprilYSH ( ) posted Tue, 09 October 2001 at 9:52 AM

oh right, hehe, yep, "femina" would be Traveller's then. Different guy than Anton... Anton used to sell at bbay, but bbay is Traveller's company as far as I know :) Traveller is Eric, Anton is Anton. :) And I wish I could be mistaken for either! haha

Well there you go, I stand corrected :) Though while "femina" is indeed Traveller's, the mesh it comes packed it is Victoria 1.0 by Zygote/DAZ, and since I chose not to focus on that particular part of the mesh :P then I figure the picture above is pure DAZ, (and associated artists :) Appologies to both Eric and Anton for the mistake :) later jb

People used to get Traveler and me mixed together all the time. Don't worry about it. -Anton And don't be so hard on yourself for not liking the meshes. The ears still make me cringe. Nowadays Vicki has so many morphs you could turn her into a soap dish. SO in the beginning you weren't too far off. But now with Vicki 2.0 and all the freestuff she is a very sweet deal.

Quick FYI: Bbay is owned by Bill Bayard and his lovely wife. Traveller works as resident guru at bbay. I used to sell there but decided to leave try Daz for awhile. Anton
