Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
in DS you could prolly export it as an object.
you'd have to redo the shaders for poser. or superfly it.

You could try using Dimension3d's DSON loader script, that we're no longer allowed to link to. There's nothing tricky with this script: you put it into your main Poser runtime (that is inside the directory where the Poser executable is), and then you use it by clicking Scripts menu in Poser and choosing the DSON loader from the drop down. If you copy the script to the runtime while Poser is running, you need to restart Poser before trying to use the script, or it won't show up in the drop down menu.
You could export out of DS itself in FBX or collada or obj form, and then import into Poser.
If all of those options seem too complicated, then I'd suggest the easiest solution of all: using DS for those scenes that use DS assets that haven't been converted for Poser.

Thanks folks, but I don't have DS and don't know how to use it at all. I'm totally lost with that. I just wish things weren't made exclusively for one or the other like this, there's nothing else I've found that comes close to replicating a typical British railway scene. Oh well, time to move on, I guess. :(

Peace, love and polygons!
When I try to load any .duf files, I either get nothing in the scene or the following errors:

What version of Poser are you using? If you are using Poser 9 or 10, you need the 32-bit DSON importer, because they are 32-bit programs....

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."For some British Railway content try looking at Dryjack's stuff here at Rendo. The Dunster station is superb and as I live not that far away and have used that station on more that one occasion I can say it not only looks good but has the feel of the station as well. There are also a lot of line side freebies that add to the atmosphere but the really great news is they are created for use both in DS and Poser.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I wasn't born knowing how to use DS either. I had to learn how to export things. Learning how to make great renders in DS would probably take years. Learning how to export props takes about an hour or two of experimenting, at most. Then, once you can do it, you quadruple the number of items available to you to render. Me, I think it's a worthwhile trade.
Just think, if you'd given up on doing everything you didn't already know how to do, you'd still be in a crib, unable to walk or talk. That's no way to live when you have the option to try other things.

I have ported this set to Poser but it is definitely one of the more tricky ones. Neither import via DSON and companion files nor FBX import do work out of the box. You have to edit the set in DS to get rid of the instances and after export you have to edit the OBJ files because some of the material zones do have spaces in their names.
Well, I've tried and tried with DS and it is the absolute worst software I have ever used! I HATE IT WITH A PASSION! The layout is cluttered and confusing. The icons are nonsensical. The stupid thing relies on the stupid install manager (I HATE INSTALL MANAGERS!!!!) and that F£%&ING THING is trying to download and install everything from my Daz library onto my C drive, which is almost full to capacity, when I haven't told it to download or install any f£%&ing thing at all. Not only that, but I finally get into DS, after clearing up its stupid mess, and I try to load the products I want to use, only to find that they won't load in there either because DS can't find bits, even though everything is all right there in one special runtime, dedicated to DS!
If I'm required to use DS, I won't bother. I wish it had a face I could punch to pieces.
Now, back to POSER! Y'know, a program that was made to be user-friendly and behave itself. I wish content creators didn't suck Daz's backside so much. I hate the software, I hate the company. Literally the only half-decent thing to be spat out by that company was V4/M4, and the pair of them are so full of problems and inconsistencies that they've been practically mashed to pieces with morphs and fixes.
So, until I can find a way of looking in my Poser runtime and seeing the Old Railway and the Scarf Braid Hair (which I would like to try and fit to V4) and get them to load into Poser, I'll be avoiding everything else, because I can't cope with the stress of stupid politics and opposing companies making decent artists suffer.

Hi folks,
I have this, and would love to use it, but it's for DS, so I downloaded DSON but can't figure out what to do with it to get the scene into Poser. Some of you will know that I'm pretty useless with scripts, I just can't seem to get my head around them. Be gentle, please! :)
