Subject: Why only three hours?

I just got home and saw that I missed Cybertenko's sale :( I've already got several of his historical stuff and was planning on getting a few more things but there is such a thing as work and as a teacher I can't very well stop in the middle of the lessons to access the web and buy stuff. Who thought three hours was a good idea?

Maddelirium's sale will start at 2:00 am for me (EET). I can't stay up that late nor get up before 5:00 am to get anything from her store either so in one day I get to miss two sales and the vendors get to lose some revenue as well. Nice going. I suppose Rosity makes enough from US customers that they can afford to alienate their European market because that's the only logical assumption one can make.

Hi Kalypso,

We will be having lots of Exclusive Vendor promotions and we send out notice the day before the sales so all can see which vendor is on sale when.

I am so sorry you missed the one vendor's sale and will miss another.

We are not trying to alienate anyone as there are some sales I'm sure the US folks will miss out on due to some life events or their schedules as well. We are always trying to think of new and exciting sales and events and we do feel bad some will miss out however we are hoping most will find this fun and exciting as we have never done this type of sale before.

Warmest Regards,

Kristi

Thank you for your answer Kristi. It does not, however, change my opinion of this sale nor does anything to mitigate my disappointment. Even knowing about the sales cannot help if someone has responsibilities or duties they cannot abandon to do shopping. Within a 24-hour period though it's a different story and I just wanted to let you know that the three-hour sales period is very limiting and I cannot see it as fun or exciting.

I second this. Renderosity is not a physical mall. Your customer base is spread around 24 very different time zones, and on top of this there are those who can only access the store at a given time window during the day...

So, what's the point in having big sales customers can't attend to?...

I agree. And having to use a coupon as well (which may be hard to find) seems unnecessary to me.

The result of promoting such a short window sale will be more to irritate potential buyers than to generate actual sales.

Exactly! I have not even bothered to look at what stores were on sale the following days. There's something about being dictated when to shop that does not agree with me.

icprncss2 ( ) posted Fri, 05 February 2016 at 11:59 AM

I do not have the time to wait around for a specific time for a coupon to be useable. It is idiotic and annoying. Rendo used to make it very easy to spend money here. $3.50 Prime items, coupons the could be used on sale and clearance items. Clear, straightforward sales and coupons. Now the site is chaotic and annoying. Skip the stupid marketing games. All they do is drive customers away.

I really miss the days when the various marketplaces just had simple straightforward sales.

jennblake ( ) posted Sat, 06 February 2016 at 8:38 AM

All coupons and sale will not be done this way of course. But this is a new type of sale that has done well, that we will continue to do in the future. We will also be doing these throughout the am hours so that buyers who are not available throughout the day our server time can take advantage of these same savings. So maybe that time frame will be better for some of you. 😄

Great I missed Sshodan's sale too. It seems any vendor I'm interested in is on sale at the worst possible time. I give up, I might as well not even look at the newsletters anymore. . .

UlyssesV ( ) posted Sat, 13 February 2016 at 7:03 PM

I agree this limited window sale is rather lame, not that I found anything I wanted to buy in the last one. Ever since they changed the layout, all the so-called Deals tend to be rather meh like so much of the new content these days.

Gogger ( ) posted Tue, 23 February 2016 at 10:10 PM

I see the emails for these events and go, "Meh, I'll be at work for this one. I'll be at work for that one. Yep, I'll be at work and can't view or buy ANY of this stuff." I stopped being disappointed early on and am now just checking other sites where I can spend my money whatever time of day I am free to do so. Pity, I really like spending my money. Oh well. I can't quite figure out the logic to this promotion AT ALL. Now I'm wondering what 'special advantages' my Prime Membership is getting me and taking advantages of sales that last only three hours during the work day are NOT one of the perks. One of these times I might forget to wander back where I used to check every single day. I don't care to stop by just to see what I've missed out on. Takes a good bit of the fun out of it.

But for those of you able to take advantage of these sales, I'm happy for you and hope you fill your runtimes with treasures!

EleganceAtNight ( ) posted Fri, 26 February 2016 at 4:10 PM

I agree. I hardly buy anything from here anymore and I didn't renew prime. I don't understand the reason for ALL the changes. Why fix something that wasn't broken in the first place? I missed out on a 3 hour vendor sale (macatelier) due to the coupon not working on clearance items. I didn't read the small print. Had the sale lasted longer, ie long enough for someone to point out the clearance clause, I could have picked a couple of different items. Very disappointed.

UlyssesV ( ) posted Mon, 29 February 2016 at 7:49 PM

Now I noticed that they are running 3 hours deals from the period between 9pm (Cst) and 9 am (cst). I don't see anything I want nor if I did would I bother to set an alarm. If you want to limit a sale to a day, fine. But the 3 hour window is just nonsense and easy way to encourage people to go elsewhere and spend their money. Possibly I could see these ridiculous windows if these were for really really good sales during some special occasion. They're not. Or maybe I am just reading this wrong, and these sales for those who were asleep in their part of the world during the earlier 3-hour windows.

Well maybe they'd do even better if you tried to expand them to 24 hours, and then skip the coupons (which to me seems like an unnecessary complication)? In any case, I've more or less given up on these sales because of the conditions.
