Subject: Walk Designer for self created character

Dear Community,

I am using Poser Pro 2014 and I am wondering if I can use the walk designer for non standard figures like the one here or let's say a more or less humanoid figure with a tail or so?

Thanks,

Kyraia

If your body parts are named the same as those of standard Poser figures then you can use the walk designer as a starting point. Although you may be better off starting from scratch manually. Try it and see, you have nothing to lose.

Hello PhilC,

thanks for your reply.

If your body parts are named the same as those of standard Poser figures then you can use the walk designer as a starting point.

Well, that was not so good:

Although you may be better off starting from scratch manually.

So that means the Walk designer cannot be customized for non standard figures? What a shame. Has this never been tried before? I can impossibly be the first one who wants to do something like this ...

OK, meanwhile I figured out that it depends on the IK chains. In the image above the IK chains end in the toes. When I let them end in the feet it works better

Hello,

For simple walk, I suggest that you use the Poser dependent parameter tool to program the walking cycle. First , find the values to enter for the motion of the limbs (look on the net for angle values of an equivalent animal by measuring it on your computer screen). Next, adjust the vertical motion of the hip actor in order to keep the feet in contact with the ground during limb motion. Finally, set the forward translation of the hip to displace the figurer forward.

Probably you are not the first to face this problem. Search the Forum for thread about that.
