Subject: Windows 10 won't shut down.

Just up graded ... after a couple days even the three finger salute took several tries to respond. I do not care for the solution s suggested at Microsoft ... any gurus here have non hacking solutions? I was a pretty savvy computer tech over 15 years ago ... not now.

Yeah...stay from the offered Upgrade to Win10, I upgraded from Se7en pro/sp1 and never could get 10 working went back to Se7en, don't trust the upgrade, pre-installed may be OK on a new puter but that upgrade seems to be a pain.

Hi Boni

Is it just sitting there with orange screen and the icon spinning forever or you can't shut it down from the start menu?

If there is a polarized group, it's the Win 10 pros and cons. Everyone I know upgraded without a hitch. Even under prior Windows versions, I had the occasional shut-down issue. On my machine, you can just hold down the power button for a few seconds. Often the restart worked. I also shut mine down every night, unless I have a render running. That seems to keep it happy. All I can really offer is sympathy. System and software issues are the most frustrating, while you wait hours scouring the 'net for possible fixes, reading forums, trying to find something current . . .

I upgraded all my systems. From a 1 GB RAM 10"netbook to my latest powerhorse. All went nice if you leave it alone the first week or so. NO CLUE what they all do in that first week after an upgrade, but it likes to be left alone for a week or so. After that, reboot, and you have a nice system. (Some reboot automatically a few times, and you need to log-in again, but after that? leave it alone. Your turn is AFTER the first week has gone by.

" ... but it likes to be left alone for a week or so."

Sounds more like metamorphosis than an upgrade.
