Subject: Daz promotions pushed at Rendo

A_Sunbeam ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2016 at 1:01 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 10:46 AM

Recently I've been receiving notifications of items for Daz Studio users - which aren't of any real use to me. With all the Genesis bits and bobs now appearing in the Rendo Market-Place I'm beginning to wonder if all this attention to Daz creations and supplies indicates a lessening of interest in promoting Poser on the part of the management here. It is even more important that there is support for Poser here now that RuntimeDNA is closing - there must be some vendors who will not be going to Daz and who could be attracted and welcomed here. Perhaps it's high time SmithMicro set up its own site, similar to what Rendo was, to promote Poser as heavily as so many people are now promoting Daz ...

Basically, support for Poser or Daz is a matter of the discretion of the individual vendors and Freestuff providers. Renderosity has no official position on it. Personally, all my Freestuff is in Poser format, because that makes more sense to me since it can work in both Poser and Daz without me having to make 2 versions.

Oh there is no lessening of interest [that I'm aware of] for Poser items, far from it. Why you are seeing more D/S related items becoming available and/or being talked about here is because of an influx of new support and new customers for a bunch of reasons not to be discussed in anybody's forums ;-) I think of it more like a second story has been added to a one story building; room for everybody, content and support.

And Carrara! 😎

I spend 95+% of my animation time in Carrara (a little in Poser and Vue) and have a very large collection of Poser format items, which work seamlessly in Carrara. In spite of DAZ's efforts, I have had trouble with DUF format (DAZ Studio) and avoid it.

Please keep in mind that vendors and artists here choose what they want to post about. We definitely want to continue to provide quality images, freestuff and products for Poser. But, as a vendor, I sometimes need to make the items that my buyers are asking for. Sure, we still make a lot of Poser stuff but we throw in some Daz only items occasionally (due to buyer demand). Recently, the staff here even started a Poser newsletter, so hopefully you're on that list. If not, I'm sure the staff could get you on it if you're interested.

There certainly has been a move to Daz Studio support here but it is very difficult to gauge how much exactly as it is so difficult to find stuff here and equally difficult to buy. Certainly all of my budget in the last eight months has gone to Hivewire3d, RuntimeDNA and Daz (on their 60%+ discount sales). Almost all the Daz purchases were for old Poser items so that is really the end of that. With RDNA now throwing in the towel I can see Hivewire3D benefiting the most but I will look at some of the other sites that have sprung up since the demise of RDNA was known.

The only question I really have is how many pages this thread will make before it is locked for all the usual reasons.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
