Subject: P11 Library not updating installed products

Dave-So ( ) posted Sat, 23 April 2016 at 7:49 AM ยท edited Mon, 17 February 2025 at 7:41 PM

I just got a new system. it has windows 7 Pro. I downloaded and installed Poser 11 to its default locations. I downloaded V4 from my DAZ account. Extracted, copied the runtime file, and pasted in the ProgramFiles/Smithmicro/P11 folder as I have always done. It does not show in the P11 Library.

Then I pasted it to a directory found in Programfiles (x86) ... again, it does not show. Someone said it should go in the Runtime within My Documents. I tried it there, it does not show in P11 library. I also tried to install two hair products the same way. Same result.

I have never had this problem before on my old system, or any previous system with any version of Poser.

Any ideas?

Under Vista, Win 7, Win 8, and Win 10, content is no longer installed into Program Files; it is installed into a shared folder, by default either under My Document or Users>Public. Only the core app will install into Program Files. Now, you only mentioned Poser 11, did you install your legacy content? That is separate download and install. As for V4, you are better off creating a new runtime and linking it to Poser 11.

If you are using the Smith Micro Download Manager, your content will appear as several, separate downloads. Pick and choose what you want.

Just make sure you also grab the SR updates on the other tab.

finally got V4 to show by using an external runtime for her and her stuff. Wonder why it all works on my other computer with the content in the program runtime?

What OS were you running before? The change came with Vista and continues through Win 10; it interferes with any program read/write into Program Files.
