Subject: Daz Overload

Mythocentric ( ) posted Wed, 27 April 2016 at 4:30 PM ยท edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 4:29 PM

Over the last few months it appears to me that Daz and Genesis related products are in the ascendency with Poser becoming something of a poor relation. We've already lost RuntimeDNA to Daz and despite promises to the contrary finding their former products at Daz is like searching for the proverbial needle in the haystack! At face value it appears that Renderosity is going the same way. Recently there has been some gorgeous outfits aimed at Victoria which I would dearly love to buy but they are all aimed at Genesis. While I can appreciate that vendors are in it to make money may I suggest that limiting themselves to one format will eventually lead buyers to look elsewhere for their purchases resulting in lower income. Could I alsosuggest that Renderosity itself include a new facility in Departments or Search which would limit searches to Daz or Poser products. That really would make life much easier for the poor buyers!

"Search which would limit searches to Daz or Poser products. That really would make life much easier for the poor buyers!"

This has come up a few times already - Better search filter, It would be helpful to be included in either the description or possibly the platform logo on the thumbnail. As for what is available here it is not just a Poser site if you click on the gallery tab or the forum tab and read the headings then all those formats could also be sold here if vendor chooses to provide content.

Yes! A better search filter would be helpful, especially at this point in time. Other content sites have that facility so why not here on Renderosity, which is by far my preferred site? I appreciate that this is not just a Poser site and I wouldn't expect it to be. My problem is I am not the most patient of people so when I search for Poser content and plough through up to 10 pages or so of Genesis before I start to find it I tend to get fed up and go elsewhere! Again, there are vendors who supply versions of their products for both Genesis and Poser, so wouldn't it make sense for Renderosity's vendors to do that and enjoy a larger sales base? Genesis may be the flavour of the month but is it worth exploiting that to the exclusion of everyone else? Don't get me wrong. I have no intention of knocking Renderosity. Far from it for the simple reason that this the best content site by far. However I do think it needs to give some thought to redressing the balance between the various formats by making it easier to access the buyers preferred format without the extraneous luggage!

Thanks Mythocentric it is clear you are putting forward a viable suggestion and not knocking Renderosity. I ended up working here because of the great vendors and range of product so I think it is the best content site by far as well. There is always room for improvement and the staff including my boss will read your suggestion and since it is not the first time this has come up hopefully they can see what can be done to improve the browsing experience. After all top quality content is only good if you can find it. I am with you on the filter although that can have it's own issues too. One of my main content providers also develops about 5 software products so the landing page is the software tabs and you will only find stuff suitable for each in its own store from there you can filter versions ie characters. Shared templates appear in each section that it works in. This does not mean I will find what I am looking for but at least I come unstuck in an orderly fashion.

As a Daz and Poser user I can say there has been many times that I am looking at a product and when I see it for both platforms via the included companion files it has on many occasions helped me make my mind up and encouraged me to buy the product so IMO it is wise if the developer is able to take the time and go the extra mile as they will always get my vote and I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way.

I would welcome sorting out products that only work on DAZ or with Daz characters from those that work on Poser Characters. I run Poser not Daz, and DSON hasn't cut it for me. I won't be buying items that work only on DAZ for obvious technical reasons related to not running the software, not because I don't like them or don't want them. Seeing an item, clicking on it and reviewing it only to find I cannot use it is not a good use of my time on your site or anybody else's.

Shopping at Renderosity has become drudgingly burdensome, so I offer this addition to the previously suggested search-filter: People should be able to filter their search-results to include only products which contain a mesh/geometry.

Simply put - If I can't search for meshes (props, hair, figures) without getting lost in a sea of textures, etc... I will take my money elsewhere.

KristiS ( ) posted Fri, 22 July 2016 at 2:58 PM

Hello,

You can search by hair, props, figures, etc by selecting the department and then using the options on the right hand sidebar however I will add meshes to the list of suggestions ๐Ÿ˜„

I just tried it, and IT WORKS! You have just resolved about 80% of my frustration(s) involved with coming here. Thank you SO much! (the nightmare finally ends!)

You know when you watch those greeting-card type commercials, and you feel your heart flutter? (that happy tear in the eye kind of thing?) Yeah, well... that's what I'm feeling right now. No joke. (It's a good thing this is happening across the internet... or you'd be at risk of receiveing a really big hug right about now. Lol.)

Awe, thank you so much for your kind words as I am so happy you are a little more at ease now ๐Ÿ˜„

I am giving you a BIG virtual hug!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!
