Every once in a while I get an email linking my to a post that I've replied to, but when I click on the link it takes me to a page with this message at the top.

"Sorry! This is a private forum that you cannot participate in."

So why are they sending me an email about it?

It will let me edit this one, as you can see because I'm doing it. LOL

They've probably moved the thread to the admin/moderator only forum for some reason so it's not available in the public forums anymore. Usually if there's been some copyright infringement or a dubious link threads are shut down. I don't know the time frame allowed for editing but it's probably very short.

The problem is that I sometimes find that I can't edit it to make corrections immediately after posting, as was the case with the post above where I wanted to change the "my" to "me".

When I posed the post under it asking about why I couldn't edit the first one, the edit came up for it.
