...In Cases Where A Hyperlink Would Not Be Allowed?

Reference the "2 questions about mat room images" thread in the Poser forum

In reply to Thunderstones' post that...

"There is a new version of ez mat that works in poser11. Since we can't post the link here, I'll have to tell you where to go. Here on renderosity, look for posts on ez mat and Poser11 keywords."

...a moderator posted the following statement (21st April 2016):

"Thunderstone ... you CAN post a link, it just can't be live. In other words you can post the URL, just not link it. I'm surprised at the EZmat ... I hadn't heard anything from snarlygribbly about it. I will look it up. thank you."

I had my "DAZ Studio Smart+ Props Stuff Release 3 Core" freebie re-upload put on hold at the end of April/start of March 206 because I had two non-hyperlinked URLs in the description. I had to remove them before the item was allowed to go live.

It appears to me that the moderators aren't yet singing from the same hymn-sheet...

So are NON-hyperlinked URLs allowed in situations where a HYPERLINKED URL is not permitted - e.g. in this specific case an offsite freebie.

(This question is related to, but distinct from, the questions on the "Offsite links that were legal (or at least tolerated) when they were posted" thread)

The 3Dcheapskate* occasionally posts sensible stuff. Usually by accident.
And it usually uses Poser 11, with units set to inches. Except when it's using Poser 6 or PP2014, or when its units are set to PNU.

*also available in ShareCG, DAZ, and HiveWire3D flavours (the DeviantArt and CGBytes flavour have been discontinued).

Hi 3dcheapskate nothing has changed from what we discussed on the "Offsite links that were legal (or at least tolerated) when they were posted" thread. As for your freebie upload that side would have its own set of guidelines that may or may not differ from the forums and is handled from the staff in that section.

Please know that typed out URL's are not allowed either. I've just been informed. Referencing the location name e.g. sharesg, etc. is acceptable. Sorry for the inconvenience we simply cannot link to somewhere that can be considered a competitor to something that we already offer here.

Thanks Johnny and Boni for the clarification. (btw it was the NON-hyperlink bit of this comment that interested me - the other thread was all about hyperlinks)

Disappointed, but not surprised, by the answer.

Someone really, really, really needs to re-think this philosophy.

The World Wide Web would not exist without hyperlinks. And competition, within reason, is a good thing.

Community can not exist without sharing.
