Subject: Why so much G3 content

kol_2005 ( ) posted Sun, 22 May 2016 at 4:11 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 5:14 PM

This maybe a silly question, but why are Vendors spending so much time on G3 here, she does not work in poser (I know you can import a shell of her, but its too much hard work), this is primarily a Poser software website, so again why are they making clothes for Daz3d? I would love to buy these outfits, but I have used Poser from 7 upto pro 2014! Surely these vendors must be making less money now they have stopped V4 clothing. Yes I know Daz3d has autofit, but if you use a magnetised v4 it works the same way!

Actually, Genesis 3 content is very popular. Vendors make for what sells. Besides all that, we are not primarily a Poser content site. We cater to both. You can also get Genesis 3 content to work in Poser. See this tool HERE.

And we do have many vendors who still make for V4 and other Poser native figures. There is still a strong Poser base.

Thanks for the reply I can see a small amount of v4 content being created, but 90% of the stuff is G3, which I find baffling considering there is around 70% of poser users here who cannot use her in poser? I have Daz3d but without going into a which is best debate, I find it is poor for posing figures and rendering good quality scenes in under 2 mins, Perhaps it is the end of poser, which I find very sad as daz is basically trying to get people to use their software only :(

Hardly the end of Poser. It's not going away.

In addition to all the above, Renderosity is not a Poser exclusive site.

What figure are you using anyway? And i do think that shopping at Renderosity would be better and easier if you could simply shop for the software you are using and filter out anything else. I'd like to be able to set in my profile what software I'm using and what figure(s) I prefer to use, so that when i'm shopping, the software will simply ignore anything that does't fit. Probably not going to happen though.

I do think this is a great idea until we can get all DAZ content easily into Poser as it is to get Poser content into DAZ. I do prefer Poser as my go to App! However, we can filter for figures once we know what we are shopping for at a particular moment. Oh, and from what I've seen, Poser isn't going away. I think it's just to going to get better. Of course once I win the Powerball, I'll buy them both and make them play nice with each other.

I use V4 with VaVaVaVoom and BadaBing and magnetize the clothing using Scene Toy and with additional morphs like NGM etc that can be transferred to clothing using 'Copy Morphs From' --- I truly hope Poser does not go away as it is a superb and smooth to work with, however, I am as my thread suggests mystified and concerned at the lack of actual poser content and when I say poser content I have to say V4 M4 as this was so well supported in the past - I used to be Platinum Member at Daz until they never made anything for poser and I am a Prime Member here, but it is slowly becoming like Daz3d with the deals on offer only being of use to things you can get for G3 Gm3 poses & clothing, albeit a few scenes and props that are poser friendly.

If the popularity of a model is measured by the amount of content that's available for it, V4 still beats any other model, even at DAZ own site. Considering the fact we had V5, v6 and V7 and there are still vendors who are making content for V4, no one can deny she is the most popular Poser/DAZ model ever. And as long there isn't a good alternative for poser-users, she will still be around

It should also be noted that many of the G3 clothing is also made to fit V4.

AetherDream ( ) posted Sun, 22 May 2016 at 11:06 PM

G3 is a really nice figure. I have her, along with every other figure I can get my hands on. Also, while many of us are Poser exclusive users, some of us use both programs! Keeping my options open means that I am happy whenever I see an awesome outfit or character, I do not need to worry about whether or not I can use it since I use it all.

Is that only for Poser 11 users? It was my understanding that Gensis 3 (G3) couldn't be used in other version of Poser.

Set the preference in the profile, that's an excellent idea!

How is this possible I looked on google but could only find info on how v4 clothing can fit to G3?

Because it's not possible without refitting and rerigging it for V4. You can use the fitting room too, but you do have to export it from DAZ Studio.

G3 is a really nice figure. I have her.

Oh I do agree with you she sure looks good, but she was created to work in daz3d software not in Poser I've tried daz3d endless times but cannot wait over 30 mins for a semi decent render, firefly delivers a good render in under 2mins as long as there are not too many reflections and close ups on hair. If I was creating single frame art then I no doubt would abandon poser and use daz3d but I use poser for full scenes with up to 5 v4 figures (G1 and G2 slows down the workflow but at least it works in poser) and multiple frame building which you cannot do in daz3d (I must stress I have not had the patience to find out if daz3d allows you to build a 1000 frame scene?)

lol I admit, I'm a software floosie. I follow the sweeter treat. Right now DAZ has the sweeter treat in shape of the G3 figures. When Ali, Ambient Shade and Erogenesis releasing their Poser figures, I'll be back to Poser.

I'll tell you all the truth, the new Gen characters are great because they are saving me a ton of money. I don't use daz gen characters so I don't buy stuff for them. But one thing I can say is V6 & V7 have super great working parts over at the Rotica store. With goodies like that who needs porn anymore.
