Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
You can always use EZSkin by SnarlyGribbly too. It's free & available at CGBytes.
Have a creative day!

Mat Pose (.pz2) or material file (.mc6) ? You can save a material file just by being in the material room and in the material library and clicking on the '+' and following the prompts If you want to convert the mc6 to a pz2 you will have to edit the file. In all versions that support SSS, you can move the .mc6 file anywhere you wish, poses, character etc Bill
People that know everything by definition can not learn anything
The OP is suggesting using a SSS node arrangement which can be applied to any character and texture. The problem with Material Collection (mc6) is, when created, it retains the original skin texture set applied to the figure. It does not have the capacity to swap out texture maps. That is why EZSkin was the recommended, it just adds all the nodes in between the current image texture and PoserSurface.

Howdy! It's been a long, long time since I did anything with Poser, but I'm getting back on the horse again.
I've been loading up my old stuff, mostly for Victoria 4, and one of the character packages I have for her has subsurface scattering as a MAT pose. I tried it out, and I think the results look fantastic. I'd like to apply subsurface scattering on all of my models from now on, but holy cow! There are a whole heck of a lot of shader nodes going on there, and I understand practically none of what is going on.
So far, I've "cheated" by applying the subsurface scattering MAT pose from one character set first, then gone into the Material Room and replaced the image map for each material zone with the texture from another character set. The results look good, but it's pretty time consuming.
Is there a way I can create a MAT pose outside of Poser? Like a utility program that will allow me to search and replace all instances of one texture with another? I know you can rip open Poser pose files in a text editor and modify them, but the thing is massive and tedious to go through by hand.
Barring that, how do I "extract" a MAT pose from Poser? Like once I set the textures and shader nodes up in Poser exactly how I want them, how do I turn that into just a MAT pose?
Thanks for all your help. :D
