Subject: Texture Transitioning problem.

I have posted the nature of my problem on another forum, which does allow file uploading.

-How can I use the node editor or easier, in blender 2.77a, to have the colour value from a texture on a surface tranisition to zero in between two key frames for a blender animation render? Can someone show me what to do here? [As a less important aside, I am confused with the latest version of the node editor, since I can't actuate my nodes to time and rehearse my animation by pressing play].

-I think that the only thing I want to do is achieve is a continual texture influence colour reduction between two key frames as a composite. I can't figure out how to link what I construct in node view to my key frames either. Help, Anyone?

Reading through your post on blenderartists I think this might be what you are after in the simplest way.

  1. Go to the frame that you want the transition to start from.
  2. Make the change to the required parameter. In the attached image it is the Mix Shader Factor parameter.
  3. Right Click in the parameter field that you want to set the keyframe for and choose Insert Keyframe.

This sets the starting point for your transition. Repeat the same steps for the remaining keyframes that you want to add. From reading your other post I think your difficulty is occurring at step 3. in my example where the keyframe is created.

I am using blender version 2.77a.

-I only want to fade out all emission colour from one texture. I don't need to go so far as commuting one into the other gradually.

-I also simply can't find or add some of the nodes here. Where is

{Diffuse BSDF, Max Shader, Material Output}

from to start, and how are they changed to correlate with the initial example here?

-Can you update, and then give me an active link for the node diagram assembly you have done, please?

-What I'm after is just a red fade off, not interpolation. I'm trying to use textures and not just set colours. I have two files that just happen to be two straight colours.

I'm not sure my nodes are correct, and I'm not sure at what points to insert start or end keyframes. What does anyone think?

I suspect this one is closer to what I'm aiming for. However, I'm still not sure: node1.jpg I can't get frame keys to insert and then for any transition to animate. Is it possible for someone to provide me with a file as a working, blender 2.77a example? My morph .blend file is located in the post here:

Firstly apologies as the example I gave above was using Cycles nodes instead of using Blender Internal which you were using in your morph blend. The Diffuse BSDF, Mix Shader and Material Output are Cycles nodes thats why you couldn't find them in BI.

Secondly the example I showed above (Cycles or BI) was showing Shader nodes where as the image you posted above is showing Compositor nodes.

I am also wondering if the effect you are after is actually intended as a "Fade" which would be better suited using either Blenders video editor or another video editing program?

I've already given the recommended particular tutorial a go. Yes, I am sticking to Blender internal. The examples of node composition that I have previous included are my attempts at what I'm aiming for, at least.

I'm not trying to achieve a video fade. I'm trying to achieve a texture oriented fade to go along with an Animall shape key 3D morph transition. I want this to be based on textures or colours, either (though textures in my example). I have learned that one material on a surface or face can have two applied textures. I'm just trying to animate a turning down of the Influence colour (or alpha, if that will work) to fade away the upper one and reveal the lower one by default.

I can't seem to key key frame insertion or shape keys to do this, so I have surmised my answer is in the nodes compositor. However, I can't quite figure out how to build what I aim for from the nodes I see in composite mode. I also can't figure out how to apply my node graph to my relevant scene phenomena. For my example, I am trying to go from an upper red texture (turning that "down" or "off") to reveal the lower green texture. I think that I want to take one object's particular designated material, and then a designated Texture on that. What should I be aiming to be doing? The other thing is that I have a working blend file. It might be easier to email that to someone providing a working email address here, if they can include a solution.

I've put links to two zip files using your morph.blend as a starting point with various combinations of material/texture transitions from one state to another using Blender Internal renderer. If any of them are close to what you are wanting to do then that will give us a better starting point. If I'm still way off the mark then PM me and I will give you an email address to send me your blend file to look at.

I'm using nodes enabled an composite mode in the Blender 2.77a node editor. I just can't get my transition to appear in play mode or animation render. If I can solve this issue, based on what I know about node compositing already, the issue of material colour to material colour transition presents itself. It's alright. I've figured it out. Indeed, you do need the node compositor.

I'm using the Blender Renderer. You need to tick nodes, and change the node editor mode to Compositor.

You have your input nodes and then your processing nodes. If you want to see the changes before render, you link the output to Viewer node. If you want your result to go to render, that is enabled by (even simultaneously) sending the post-process output to a composite node.

Thanks for all the effort.

By the way, you insert from a node by hovering the mouse cursor over the transitional ({operative) processing value, and use the key for insert to the dope sheet or timeline. It's all in the key, and where you hover the mouse! Sheesh!
