Subject: What does the pending gallery do and how can I promote an image out of it?

DMFW ( ) posted Sun, 26 June 2016 at 3:42 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 4:06 PM

It's been some while since I last posted a gallery item to Renderosity and although I have a long standing gallery here things seem to have changed since I last used it. Specifically, when I save my image it is being uploaded to a "pending" gallery. I'm a bit confused about what that is. Is it a staging area where moderators now have to review images to see if they conform to the site TOS before accepting it for the main galleries? (that was my first guess). Or is it merely a working folder we can use to post to and review before we promote it into the main galleries? If the second option is the case how is it done? (I only seem to be able to save my latest image into the Pending gallery again). If it's the first option how does that work?

I am not seeing your image either. A member of staff can put a image on hold but this would be after the event and would have to be done with good reason. Can you go to your Pending gallery choose the image > "Edit image" and see if there is a "Publish" option available to you?. I just uploaded an image to test and it went straight through and is live.

Thanks, I've tried that and there is no publish option. There is some text that tells me the image is a preview (and I did select the preview option at one stage when I was preparing the submission). The page says I can just save the image from edit to make it public but all that is doing is re-saving back to the Pending gallery. That was when I wondered if all images were reviewed now, but from what you are saying it isn't a new Renderosity policy so I guess I should have been able to publish to the public gallery. Not sure what's going on here but maybe a bug? I could try resubmitting the image without previewing it but it would be good to know if I'm missing something obvious...

Okay by the look of it this is how you do it. Open the image up in your pending section. Click Edit Picture and cast your eye over the details to ensure all is still there. Then at the bottom click the checkbox about it being your own work copyright info agreement and click save. This is basically a resubmission

*Edit Image" might be better. I think if you don't click that checkbox at bottom it will default back to the pending.

Don't understand the problem here, to upload an Image to your Gallery simply click "upload art" then Give a title and description select Gallery and Genre designate the Image and where you are Uploading from and a Thumb select permissions and options verify it's yours and "Upload Art"...done To Edit and image open the image select Edit then edit away always remembering to state this image is yours or it will not do it Uploading or Editing.

Remember...No matter where you go there you are

Certainly if I don't click the checkbox, I just get an error returned saying I don't have permission to edit the image which is fair enough. But I only have three buttons available to me at the bottom of the screen when I am editing (there's a delete at the top as well). Save Changes reports success in a green text banner (if I've clicked the check box) but just puts the image back in the pending gallery and the other two options are Preview and Cancel. So the image seems to be stuck in Pending. I'm sure if I'd posted directly to the galley in the first place I'd have been fine but having got into this "preview" mode it doesn't seem possible to do anything other than edit in place or delete.

Could it be a browser issue? Have you tried a different browser?

Deenamic ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2016 at 10:38 AM

I think it's a bug. I've been having the same problem. There's something wrong with the preview button. I told Kristi about it a few days ago. Kristi and the programmer are working on the problem. :)

Those having this issue, what browser are you using?

I'm using Google Chrome.

Thanks everyone! That's why I love Renderosity. So many helpful people.... I've been away from the galleries here too long. I guess it's just my bad luck that my first post in a few years got swallowed up in a bug but as long as someone is working on it, that's fine. I've waited long enough to post, a little longer won't hurt.

DMFW ( ) posted Mon, 27 June 2016 at 4:58 PM

P.S. I was using Edge on Windows 10

I am having the same problem with one of my images, although another image went through with no problems...

(Also, I am using Google Chrome, if that helps...)

Martian_Law ( ) posted Wed, 13 July 2016 at 2:02 AM

Never mind. I deleted the image from pending and resubmitted it, and this time it went through.

Deenamic ( ) posted Wed, 13 July 2016 at 10:34 AM

I have stopped using the preview button and I just go ahead and use the other button and I just have to keep on clicking on Edit Image to make any corrections I need to make. Kristi told me that the programmer is going to have to temporarily remove the preview button until it can be fixed. I think that's going to happen soon.
