Subject: Site feedback

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

(I'm posting this on an alternate account because I don't like posting publically on an account that I make purchases with. I don't know if this is a site that listens to feedback and I sometimes feel like I'm talking to the air when I try, I guess we'll see...)

Some feedback from using the site:

  • Almost no products show wireframes or UV maps or have polycount info. This makes me very hesitant to buy anything. Half the time when I buy a pair of socks or something equally simple, I load it and it's an overly dense mesh that slows my editor to a crawl, and I end up having to spend a lot of time fixing it up. Wireframes are also important because it lets me see if the model is well constructed, or a decimated mess that won't deform well. Every other asset site shows these.

Adding wireframes isn't easy (you should encourage sellers to do this for new products), but you can automatically add polycount info to all products using common formats. It's very easy to extract the polycount from a Daz3d asset, since it's just JSON data.

  • Search results show incorrect prices for "prime" items. I'm not a "prime" user, but it still shows "prime" prices, until I add something to my cart and it shows the real price. This is pretty scummy, please show real prices. When someone adds something to their cart and the price doubles, it just pisses them off and they don't buy it at all, even if they would have if they had been honestly shown the real price in the first place.
  • The "Site Alerts" thing at the top is really pushy and annoying. It actually says that the only way to make it go away is to click the links. Because of this, I usually log off when searching the site and only log in if I want to buy something. This is really silly, please add an "x" button to dismiss these and stop trying to force us to read things we're not interested in.
  • "3D Figure Essentials" and "3D Models" being separate is really confusing. I don't know what "3d figure essentials" means or why it's separate and I never know where to go. They should just be a single category.

Hi there NotSoSerious

We do listen to the members and pass on something if it has merit. I dont think it is unreasonable for you to have your say if it is presented the way you have done here, although I am not so sure you need to go to the trouble of starting a new account to do so. I have just added the language warning to your post to cover you for the one word here and a member of staff that handles this side of things will catch up with you. Thanks

And a month plus later, we see how well "a member of this site catches up" with "you". Everything this guy complained about - goes double for me. That "3-D essentials" crap is a joke. Most of it's for DAZ Studio these days, or for Bryce... or something other than Poser... I was assured that the matter would be looked into when you guys made the change, what, a year ago? So, instead, just gonna leave us guessing what we're looking at.

Also add into your complaints, that bogus clearance crap. Click on the link for the Clearance items, the top three items are clearance, the rest is stuff that you can't even apply coupons to... This is deceptive marketing, IMO, and something that needs to stop. But, of course, you won't make a single change, because you don't really care. That's been the hallmark of this website for the last decade or so. Seriously, if a couple vendors ever pull out, I won't miss this site one bit, and I've been coming here since shortly after the turn of the millennium.

I think that's a great idea, I will now plan to do so myself. I used to add texture templates at Daz, and no reason to I can think of not to include that as an image as well. I've downloaded items where the mapping is not so great and the material zones are not properly labeled. I've taken a few items and created new mat zones. And plan to remap them at least for my own use or for use for others if the original creator agrees.

And do a image of the item with no textures just so one could see if I had included things like wrinkles and other detail.

Also I would like to ask if one is allowed to show a "Artistic" render labeled as such?

When I browse the site before logging in and go to a product I want to download (usually freebies), then log in, I'm taken from the login page not back to the product's page, but to the home page. I then have to navigate back to the product from there to download it. Why can't the login just take me back to the page I was looking at? ShareCG does this. Why doesn't Rendo?

Yes, that is a problem if I see something and I'm not logged in I've developed the habit of popping a link link in my "Unsorted Bookmarks".
