This evening I made a Fractal flower. An Apophysis, with one of my soft made photo's behind it, then I added a texture. I hope you like my flower 😌FractalFlower.jpg

I love it Jacomina! I love the colors, the softness, and the textures. It makes you think of blooming flowers from every season. 😄

Beautiful lights are on them, Klaus. The succulent stand here in a vase, it grows in our garden. 🙂

Deenamic ( ) posted Sun, 03 July 2016 at 1:23 PM

Hendesse, I just noticed that Jacomina just called you Klaus so I'm going to start calling you Klaus too. I love the photos you took! I loved how you played with the focus in the first photo. The flowers are beautiful and they are definitely in the process of blooming. I love the contrast you have in the second photo between the young chestnut tree and the other foliage, it makes it look like the young chestnut tree is the mightiest tree of them all with blooms for all to see. Great job Klaus! 😄

There are some lovely entries in here so far. I'm looking forward to seeing what else people post :) .

I went hunting wild orchids with a friend this afternoon. It's getting a bit late in the season for them now, but we found a few - including this one.Dscf7600.jpg

Caroline, I agree, there are some lovely entries so far. Is this one of the wild orchids you were telling me about? It's beautiful! I love seeing the bright purple petals against the greenery. As one of my high school classmates/Facebook friends likes to say, this photo is awesomesauce! 😄

Yes Dee, it's a Pyramidal Orchid - one of the 56 species of wild orchids we have here in Britain. Here's another one: an Ivy Broomrape. Broomrapes are fascinating because they have no chlorophyll themselves and so they parasitise other plants. Each species of Broomrape grows on a specific host plant and this one grows on ivy. We have a very localised yellow form around here - and this is a small group of them. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo. They were growing in an awkward place where I had a bit of a problem getting a good angle on them and the sunlight reflecting from the raindrops on them made for very bad contrasts :( . Deenamic ( ) posted Mon, 04 July 2016 at 4:38 PM

I like those Caroline! You taught me something new. My college botany professor never talked about Broomrapes and I wish she would have, they sound like interesting plants/flowers. I can still see the beauty of the Broomrapes even though you had to struggle to get a good shot. This is another wonderful entry! 😄

How interesting to read your info, Caroline. Here we also have Orchids, but I've never seen that yellow one before. Ha, and I recognize the marjoram among the purple orchid. btw I got no e-bots from the new posts here.

And here is the heart of a begonia flower, I played a bit with it. UnusualB2017.jpg

This is the flower of a spice bush, which is quite rare in the Netherlands. But it is in our garden.

This is an example of the more common variety of Ivy Broomrape - which I took in a much more favourable location at the beginning of June. When I say "common", none of these are prolific. It just means that they're less UNcommon than the others! Dscf6346.jpg

Deenamic ( ) posted Tue, 05 July 2016 at 4:58 PM

Jacomina, I like how you played with your first photo, it looks like cute yellow fuzzy worms are coming from the heart of the begonia. The spice flower looks like what I would want a spice flower to look like, it looks red and spicy and it makes me want a cinnamon candy. lol 😋

Caroline, this is a cool photo of the more common Ivy Broomrape. I like the flowers on it, but I don't know if I would touch its stem. That fuzzy stem would give me the creeps, it would make me feel like I'm touching a tarantula's leg. lol Have you touched its stem? ❓

Sunflowers159 ( ) posted Wed, 06 July 2016 at 3:44 PM

The stem hairs are slightly sticky! I'm not sure why, but the entire plant is slightly sticky.

Deenamic ( ) posted Wed, 06 July 2016 at 9:49 PM

I love your photo Helle! My favorite color is pink, so the color of those flowers grabbed me right away. I love the kaleidoscope effect you added to the photo, it really helps showcase the main flower. 😄

Caroline, I would have never thought it would be slightly sticky. When I was a young girl in Girl Scouts, we would have meetings at my troop leader's house and next to her house was this field of tall green weed-like plants and my troop and I would play hide and seek in it and I remember the plants being sticky and my eyes would burn after awhile. I'm not good with sticky plants, but I know sticky plants need love too, so I'm happy you took a photo of it to show us its unusual beauty. 😄

I love your photo Art! I'm a sucker for hot pink so that grabbed me right away and I like how the flowers are naturally arranged on the stem. You can just cut that and make that a whole flower arrangement. I've thought about taking some photos of flowers around my house, but one day some are living and the next day some are dead. This Texas heat is no joke. I'm sorry if that was depressing. lol Your photo is beautiful and it definitely deserves to be amongst the other blooming flowers in this thread! 😄
