Subject: Is there a function in Vue that...?

Is there a function in Vue that let you spread several selected objects all over the place. For example if you have 30 stones and you do not want to place each one by hand, there is a possibility in Bryce to select all and throw them all over the place at once. I want to know, if there is something similar in Vue too. To not get me wrong: This is something different than just multiply an object and put the duplicates a certain amount to x+2 and/or y+2. That way you will still get a row of objects. Instead I am speaking of placing multiple objects randomly (in a chaotic way) in a certain area. cheers

Yes, under Edit>Scatter/replicate objects. You can set it to do either what you say, uniformly, or randomly, though you still seem to have to set the degree of randomness. I actually never use this feature, though, so I'm no expert at it, but it seems fairly straightforward....

A tip when using scatter, if you want the scattered objects to be within a certain area (over a terrain, for instance), start with 4 copies of the object you want scattered. 4 rocks, 4 trees, 4 spheres, whatever. Place one object at each "corner" of the target area. Select all 4 of the objects, then move to the Scatter feature and check "use selected objects." Doing this will set the extreme distances for you so all you need to fill in is how many to scatter within that area. :)

If you want your objects within a specific boundary, make 4 stones (or trees or whatever) and place them in the corners of where you would like your boundary. Then select them all and do the scatter objects. They will be more or less contained within the "square" that you created. Of course, it doesn't have to be square :). Thank Varian for that one...at least I THINK it was Varian that told how to do this ;). Laurie

no problem...'tis what we do around here. :)

Be careful with the method starting with 4 objects ! If you use 'duplication' you will make copies of all 4 objects. Which means, if you write '10' copies, you will end up with 40 objects :) Not a problem but surprising if you dont expect it.
