Been there.....Twice.......

Suggestion.. Print out a copy of all your passwords....Also if anything happens and you have to reinstall, you will have to go to Microsoft site to install win10...Any problem don't hesitate to contact them. Once they even had to access my comp to fix it.....

I had something similar happen to me...but when I shut down, and then restarted my computer--they were all back.

On 02 aug they are going to roll out Windows 10 Redstone. I's gonna be funny times. LOL.

Does anyone know how to keep that from happening? The upgrade killed my laptop and I've no intention to upgrade my desktop.

I'm not sure you can stop the upgrade if you have Windows 10 already. I know if you have Win 10 Pro you can defer the upgrade, but not forever unfortunately. Maybe tho at least long enough to see what it's done to other people's machines and decide whether or not to make the leap.

No I have windows 8. I just did a quick search and found the update responsible for the notifications. It never updated so I changed my settings to where the updates aren't automatic and I hid that particular update. Fingers crossed. I hate win10.

You should only have to wait for a few days. W10 is supposedly not free anymore after July. I am assuming that we wont have to worry about it updating to 10 on it's own after that.

[1] Windows will "upgrade" you to Win10 by default, unless you take action to prevent that.

[2] Once "upgraded" to Win10, your update choices are reduced to (A) Take all updates/changes, or (B) Get no updates, including no security updates.

To stop the Win10 "upgrade", get and install GWX Control Panel - it will block Microsoft from from changing your computer to Win10 without your permission.

In case of this or a hack ... I NEVER keep any passwords on my computer. I have an old address book I use to keep all my passwords in. Just a suggestion.
