Subject: How to change the group of individual faces?

As the title says, I want to change the grouping of some faces, but can't figure out how to do it in Blender. Anyone know how? Image for clarification.Image1.jpg

Using vertex groups is what I think you are looking for:

Alternatively, if you're trying to group certain faces or edges into smoothing groups, this documentation might help... https://www.blender.org/manual/modeling/meshes/smoothing.html

Got it. Turns out I had to remove doubles. Thanks for the help.
