Subject: Puzzle opening downloads to Poser 4

moushie ( ) posted Sun, 17 July 2016 at 4:30 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 7:06 AM

Can someone please explain how to open Free Stuff downloads? It used to be so simple. Now, having downloaded the item (Render-Room-For-Poser, or any other) the folder goes to my downloads. Now what? I right click open with, then click WinZip; then "one-click" unzip. Fine, it shows in Poser's Props folder in Windows Explorer. But on opening the props folder within Poser 4 there's nothing there. So it shows in the directory but not within Poser.

you did say Poser 4?

Which OS are you running P4? And where is P4 installed?

Yes, Poser 4. (In my judgement the best version.) Running Windows 7. Poser installed on PC.

And the folder in which Poser is located? If you answer Program Files (x86) folder, there is your problem. Content cannot be installed into that folder because of UAC, User Access Control.

And I'm pretty sure newer downloads don't have rsr files to show them in Poser 4 so you need a tool that creates rsr files from pngs.

Also ... some vendors and free-stuff providers nest their runtimes inside another folder so you need to open that folder before transfering the runtime properly.

I would agree with the lack of RSR format files, but you get a shrugging man icon in the Library. The OP states there is nothing in the categories Library.

As I said, it used to be so simple. This is too much for me, Thank you and out.
