Thanks Dee. Unfortunately I am not able to capture any old bridges in our area. There isne any LOL ! I have only paintings of very old bridges, i painted some years back, so I will have to pass this one.

dochtersions ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2016 at 5:01 AM

Hi Denesia,

Thank you for inform us, my friend. We have here few bridges, but I'll go hunting, and if they are not old, I'll make them old, 😇

helanker ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2016 at 5:10 AM

HA, Jacomina. You are so clever 😝

dochtersions ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2016 at 6:37 AM

LOL, Helle, we will fix it! And about clever: I have muscles but no brains Oud.jpg

helanker ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2016 at 8:59 AM · edited Tue, 02 August 2016 at 9:01 AM

Lol! That is not true and that is a fact... Hmm BTW, who said I couldnt manipulate one of my old bridge paintings, now that you mention fixing? Ah but maybe we cant do that in this forum.. I am a bit confused. So who is the one without brains? ME :) HE I do have the original photo of the bridge, sooo.................. :)

helanker ( ) posted Tue, 02 August 2016 at 9:32 AM

OK! So here you have an old bridge and this bridge IS old in real life too. Manipulation of a digital photo I took in 2008. P1013458.jpg And the original photo was uploaded HERE in 2008
Now I hope it all works. :-P

Deenamic ( ) posted Wed, 03 August 2016 at 12:32 PM

You're welcome Helle and Jacomina! You two are too much. lol Jacomina, I think you should go for it and make whatever bridge you see look old or you can draw a bridge and add a photo on top of it or behind it. Whatever your imagination is telling you to do you should do. lol Helle, you could do a mixed medium artwork. You can add textures to your old bridge paintings and turn them into new creations. I love what you did to your bridge photo! The sepia tone makes it look even older. Everything worked out well Helle. Now I can use a bridge I was messing around with in Photoshop some weeks ago in my artwork for this month. I cut it out from a photo and I didn't know what sky I wanted to add above the bridge and etc. I need to figure out what I want to add to it.

Thank you Helle! I hope my bridge turns out well. lol

Alida, I like the perspective of your bridge too! It looks as if the bridge is leading to nowhere. I like the scenery around the bridge too. You all are showing some great old bridge photos! 😄

😥 Again I didn't receive any e-bots, and my Helle-friend, you really do have brains, because you used them, due to that marvellous old stone bridge, what could come out of an old movie.

WOW, what fantastic entries this are, Helle, and Alida. You both did a great job.

Thank you so much for the link, Alida, you live in a very special, interesting area!

Hi, Alida,

Yes, now you mention it, my friend, maybe I should have know this, for I've seen your uploads from your very special nature around you. 😄

fivecat ( ) posted Fri, 05 August 2016 at 5:27 PM

Beautiful images so far. This image isn't an entry because it's not a gorgeous stone bridge like many will post, but I hope you will find it interesting. A span in California, over a highway and not a river.SPAN.JPG

dochtersions ( ) posted Sat, 06 August 2016 at 5:22 AM

This is a very surprising bridge, photo, and landscape, fivecat, and so interesting (for me) to explore. 👍

Beautiful uploads so far. One question: At what age a bridge can be described as really old bridge?

I love your photos fivecat and Alida! Your photos show that bridges made out of any kind of material are still amazing to look at.

Christian, I think any bridge over 10 years old would be an old bridge, but I think a 50 year old bridge would be the minimum age for a really old bridge. What do you all think?

I have found a trick to create old looking photos without much effort:
Let your camera do this for you. Most DSLR offer the ability to to create monochrome photographs 😄

Well, I think, every bridge that looks old, and has an unusual shape, whatever the kind of, can go for this challenge, is that right? Anyway, here is my first contribution, a bridge from the Stone Age, perhaps? (on it you see our daughter with two of her kids. LOL.

unusualObj0214.jpg

btw, I still get no e-bots, that's strange, because I refresh subscribe button. 🤔

Deenamic ( ) posted Tue, 09 August 2016 at 6:46 PM · edited Tue, 09 August 2016 at 6:49 PM

Christian, that's a good trick and it only takes a few seconds to do.

I agree Jacomina. If a bridge isn't old, then you can make it look old or if it's already old, then it's just fine like it is. I think you all are finding some uniquely shaped bridges. I love the photo of your family! I think we could use a bridge ride like that here. We have a lot of water here and I think families would love to go across something like that around the parks and attractions here. I know there are a few parks here with waterways running through them, but there are beware of alligator signs at two of those parks, so they may not want to add something like this at those two parks. lol About the ebots, I got an ebot when you posted something, but I didn't get one when Christian posted something. My ebots are acting up once in a while. I don't know why you're not getting any ebots. I'll check and see if anyone else is having this problem.

Hmmm ebots? What is that? Ah wait, yes, it is a mail, that tells us, new things are coming up in the forum, we have subscribed to LOL ! Ok I just didnt get any for ages, so I thought nothing happened in here and that isnt true, I see. Many wonderful images have popped in here. Beautiful things :) It is really great that it is posted in the forum. This way there is not so many places to try and find them :)

Lets us see... I have another very old bridge, which IS old in real life :) I tried out the BUZZ filter, DEE recomented. Only, I cant make it save in other than TIF format, so I had to take a screenshot of my final picture. It means it cant be so big.

Deenamic ( ) posted Thu, 11 August 2016 at 5:14 PM

I love your photo Helle! The software made your old bridge look even older. It feels like I'm looking at a photo from the 1930s. I tried saving an image in the program and it gave me options to save it as a TIF, JPG, or PNG. Did you see those options too or did you select JPG and had problems saving it as that? I saved my image as a JPG without any problems.

Ha, I've no idea what is DSLR (something with "Spiegel reflex" maybe)? And then I have to look for Silver Efex, I'll do my best to find out all that stuff :-) (when I find the time also LOL). But first one of my bridges. It's from the castle "Hoensbroek" from about anno 1360, I didn't use anything to make it look old, it's totally real. chuckle.

dochtersions ( ) posted Mon, 15 August 2016 at 8:08 AM

Thank you, Helle. You can post your images of this forum in your gallery too, or isn't that a good idea, my friend?

Deenamic ( ) posted Mon, 15 August 2016 at 11:50 AM

Jacomina, that is definitely an old bridge, but it looks modern too. That shows you that bridges never go out of style. I chose your dandelion photo as this month's background for the Triptych Challenge. Thank you for contributing your photo! I can't wait to see what everyone adds to it. 😄

Helle, you can definitely post the links to your bridge photos on here. I would like to see them. 😄

Gejlaa Bridge

dochtersions ( ) posted Mon, 15 August 2016 at 3:23 PM

Thank you, Denesia, and indeed in a way bridges never changes, they always have water underneath LOL. I discovered the dandelion background, and I'm curious too. Hugs from Jacomina. 😀

Deenamic ( ) posted Tue, 16 August 2016 at 1:13 AM

Helle, I love the color versions of your bridge photos! In the first photo, I like how the blue sky and the fluffy white clouds behind the old bridge changes what could of been a sad photo about an old broken down bridge with grass creeping up on it to an uplifting photo about a bridge that's still standing strong regardless of its age. I like how the green grass pops against the muted colors of the old bridge in the second photo. I hope you're having a great time with your holiday guests! 😄

Jacomina, you're right about that, there are some bridges here with too much water underneath them. lol Hugs for you Jacomina! 😄

WOW, Helle, your Immervad bridge is a great find and photo. And your Gejlaa Bridge has such a great POV. Both photo's are in such an interesting landscape, so ancient looking, with a perfect mood. Wishing you a lovely time with your family, and I think you have beautiful, sunny weather, as it is here pretty warm. Now I'm away, we have planned a hiking tour, in the hope that I will not melt, and that Karel will give me an occasional (big) nudge. 😁

Here is my take on the monthly challenge 'The Unusual Subject Gallery' for August called ~ Old Bridge ~ .

... and this is a very old, old bridge, 'a-la-natural' you may say, to be found in the State of New South Wales, Australia, at Queanbeyan (Aboriginal meaning for 'clear waters')

Hi there Brigitte, "Yes", I just love this amazing looking, maybe naturally grown bridge! It's formidable to explore it by your great photo, and I would love to really go there. But that's something I can only dream of. 😅

Deenamic ( ) posted Mon, 22 August 2016 at 2:19 PM

Brigitte, I love your photo of this old bridge made by nature! I think a lot of people would like to walk or go under that bridge, it's such a serene scene. 😄

Thank you very much 'Jacomina & Denesia' for your comments, I agree with you both - you just can't beat Mother nature, *a-la-natural * is amazing... so, lets imagination carry us away and dream on, if one can't be there in reality 😌

dochtersions ( ) posted Thu, 25 August 2016 at 9:04 AM

So it is, dear Brigitchen, we will always stay dreaming (away?) 😂 !

And "DENG", didn't receive an e-bot again. But even then...., here is my Germany bridge, what I hope will fits because it's all there is! 😀

It is just a bit over the border from The Netherlands and Germany, an it is the 'rainbow-spot' what strikes me.

BridgeDuitsland5371psp.jpg

But it must be pretty old, because it was in the neighbourhood where we discovered some ruins and an old castle.

helanker ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2016 at 12:31 PM

Brigitte, that must be the oldest bridge in this challenge :-) A wonderful Photo too :-)

helanker ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2016 at 12:34 PM

Jacomina, I do love the close shot of the bridge and the light is wonderful. :-)

helanker ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2016 at 12:43 PM

Actually, I expected to see one more bridge in here......Hmmm? Dee ;-) BTW! I dont get ebots either. Havent had much time to reflect on it anyway. Have been sick and now I have an eye infection in my one and only working eye. TSK! TSK ! And I have still guests and even more in the weekends.

Deenamic ( ) posted Fri, 26 August 2016 at 5:40 PM

I love your bridge photo Jacomina! The rainbow in front of the bridge going down to the water makes you wonder if there's a pot of gold lurking somewhere in the water. I can see why that bridge has been around a long time, it looks like it's made of good sturdy materials.

Helle, my bridge is going to make an appearance really soon, I promise. lol There's not any old bridges really close by, so I'm going to have to do a mixed medium artwork with an old bridge in it. There is a bridge that's 20 minutes away, but I think it would be a little dangerous to try to take a photo of it. lol
