According to a known employee on the E-on forums yes there is, and they -hope- to get it out before midsummer (the actual statement was they hoped to get it out before the date the last version was released, but that post was a few months old, and software releases only slide in time....). That's all the info that I've seen so far

The concern I have is if this schedule holds true, some users subscription plans will be lapped by more than 12 months of paid maintenance. I just recieved a bill for $800 to re-subscribe for annual maintenance for Vue xStream & Plant Factory Producer* and while one release out is not so risky, I am concerned about paying towards a second upgrade more than 18 months away. Thats a long time in this industry and particulary when the publishing company has just been aquired with operations migrated to another contenent, and with a release track that has yet to demonstrate fully functional software withing the period, a maintence service that does not fix all reported bugs, and when response commitments for support agreements are ignored.

Maybe it was my experience when Alibre CAD was purchased by 3D Sytsems or maybe it was the snuff of Truspace by Microsoft aquisition of Calibri. Interesting results on google these terms: "3d software acquired snuffed"

  • Plant Factory is not a content "factory". TPF at best can be described as a custom plant builder linked to Vue. The EULA permutations and application user rights burdonsome limitations of output highlight this discrepancy in product positioning. TPF should have been an update to Vue as plugin or module.

Here's what I find disturbing. it's the last paragraph at end of section 2.7 of the maintenance plan agreement.

"By no means whatsoever does e-on software guarantee that it will make available any update, upgrade, fix or revision during the term of your maintenance plan. You hereby acknowledge and agree that you may not receive any update, upgrade, revision or fix, or any form of support whatsoever during the term of your Maintenance Plan."

So this seems to me to be saying it's possible that that you will get nothing for your money. This seems to be what's happening now. Hard to say since there's no news from e-on and questions about upcoming new versions go unanswered.

I just found a notice in the E-on Forum from May 10th that stated that they are aiming for the 3rd quarter and if you had a valid maintenance plan on April 1, 2016, it will be honored whenever the 2016 version is released. Here is the URL http://www.e-onsoftware.com/support/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9637

They expand my maintenance plan until the end of june 2016 (it was just finish last month) and, in a email, they write that, if i renew ,my plan will be good until september 2017 and a new version of Vue Infinite will be coming during the third quarter of 2016.So after hesitation,i decide to renew my maintenance plan

Even i still use Poser 11 and import poser file in Vue , i hope (an hope) that the next version will accept DazStudio format (ok collada format is not bad but ajustments still necessaire) Can i dream of ....?

Vue and TPF 2016 frankly the updates are less than impressive, especially TPF which added very few new features - nothing that couldn't be done with prior versions. They have not removed the nonsence user created content use and resale restrictions. Might as well be obj zbrush trees and call them my own. The licence is its greatest factor hindering content developer adoption. The fact that there only about a dozen plant artists in the store really should spell it out for E-on. Furthermore very unimpressed with the progress. 2016 versions offered no additional capability to plant creation that was not there in the prior version (s). I was making lifecycle simulated plants two versions ago. Very low value upgrade IMO. The imported object node positioning tools could have at least been made serviceable. WHY no real R&D to improve capability and value? This is barely window dressing. This may be my last sting with TPF and I am not feeling that much better about Vue xStream2016. The delay set and acquisition set expectations higher and Eon has NOT been performing in delivery OR support. Somebody needs to clue in. I am stunned they do not get it. I used to be supportive and "entre-nous" with them in my comments.
