Subject: Texture on object while modeling?

boolprop ( ) posted Mon, 05 September 2016 at 9:40 AM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 5:58 PM

I've been looking for an answer for this. I'm new so sorry if this has been asked before or is a super easy question. Anyway, I just wanted to know how to change to a texture while modeling. (See pic). I don't need it to be perfect or save it with the texture. I just wanted to know if there was a temporary way to get a texture to show up on the model while modeling. Since it's a face it would help if it weren't solid grey while modeling. tex.jpg

Hello boolprop First you want to add a material to your object give it an appropriate name then add the texture from the prefrences then when you choose texture from the drop down in your screen shot it should show the texture you applied hope this helps and answers your question

Thanks. While I get the idea of what you are saying I can't quite do it. I created a new material then a new texture then loaded a texture. It shows up in the materials tab but when I put it on the object the shading changes but not the texture. I think I need more details. Do you know of anywhere where this is spelt out in steps?

I've found that a lot depends on the figure and what sort of texture you're after. Don't know if videos work for you, but there's a ton on youtube on modelling and texturing in Blender.

Have you UV mapped your object?

I'll give it a try thanks.

Well it's a figure from Daz so yes it's already mapped.
