You can also look at Moho (Anime studio) by SM. Specifically for what you are talking about and made by the same folks that make Poser, so easier integration.
well i'm not really trying to go for the whole manga/anime look, just some of the effects that I could get for any cartoon style i guess. But yeah I'll check that out as well

In danger of turning this thread into the HitFilm fan club page, but to endorse what others have said, compositing, particle effects, motion tracking, good tutorials and reasonable price. One down side though, it's not great for audio editing or sound effects.
Ok cool. So should one just use what they can out of the program then import it into Sony Vegas or something for the audio/sound effects

From HitFilm's website
" HitFilm 4 Pro also includes HitFilm Ignite, which allows you to use HitFilm technology in a number of other third party platforms such as After Effects, Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, and Apple Motion."

I'm trying to find the best that is cost efficient. I am using poser for animation. Specifically action fight scenes and maybe some romance. I just can't find the right software for it. If it is anything close to anime type then that would be ideal. I've already looked at adobe AF and didn't know if particle effects would just be the same. (I've never used both professionally) HELP!? :)
