Okay, so I doubt that anyone will be as excited about this as I am, but I don't care! I'm rather pleased with myself for finishing this... and I think it turned our pretty well... I followed Spikes tutorial for Rhino on making "wire frame" glasses, but I modified it a bit once I got the hang of what I was doing, and came up with these glasses. They're fitted to dacort's Natalia. I know it's nothing exciting, but I think they look pretty nice.

They definitely look very nice! You're so much braver than me :D I've tried modelling something simple about a dozen times and every time I've given up. It's just hopeless. I can't even model a sphere :(

http://www.renderosity.com/~rhino/spiketuts/glasses/glasses.htm I'm finding Rhino to be pretty easy for me... this time around, I tried my hand at it once before but I got frustrated... Spike's tutorial was a big help though.

We think you did a GREAT JOB, modeling is not as easy as it looks, I don't care what program you use. You need alot of understanding of many aspects and it is aparent you got that down pat. You should always be proud of any accomplishment, because you didn't quit, you kept trying, maybe aggevated along the way but it didn't stop you. Our hats are off and we are bowing, to pay tribute. Congrats again. Sharen

Very sharp work! Nice detail. The big question; What project next? G

very cool and for Natalia? Most excellent!

MaterialForge ( ) posted Thu, 11 October 2001 at 8:20 PM

Yeah, really cool Cin-. Congrats on it! Wish I had a real pair like that, I like the "low profile" look. :)

Cin- ( ) posted Thu, 11 October 2001 at 9:11 PM

Thanks everybody! :) I'm glad people other than me like them... you know how it is... I thought they were pretty cool... but then I'm a little biased... as far as what's next... I'm going to try to make shoes... again for Natalia... it's all part of my effort to make more stuff for her since there isn't much. Right now as we speak I'm getting ready to put up my finalized Natalia Eye Texture and put them into freestuff... and I'm .zip-ping up the head and body texture I've been working on to send out to my tester-volunteers. I'm going to make some MAT poses for the glasses if I can figure out exactly how to do it (I think I know, but I haven't tried it just yet) to change the color of the lenses, and frames for the glasses and then put them up for free stuff too... Thanks again everyone for your encouragement, and wish me luck on the shoes... :)

They look great. I wouldn't have thought they were your first model. I think it's great you're making stuff for Natalia, too. :)

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 12 October 2001 at 3:46 AM

good work, much better than my first model (which was a shot glass, heh). also nice to see someone making items for natalia, a cool but neglected character lately.
