Subject: GPU for VWD

Hello,

That's a great news, I began to rewrite some functions using GPU.

Simulation programs works very well with GPU. I will use OpenCL that allows to work on any graphic cards.

The first results are impressive even if I am not able to make a simulation for now.

A vectorial function, in my first test, goes 1000 faster as the same function in mono processor mode. My dream would be to see running the program 10 times faster. This would be very close the realtime in many cases.

I will give you some informations regularly on the progress of this development.

I wish you a good chrismas day to all.

Gérald

Merry Christmas, happy New Year and, at the rate you are going, optimal Singularity day! This is Great News (TM)!

Very interested in seeing the progress using GPUs for what is already a fantastic tool, that could be game changing!

Hi Gérald, Do you progress with GPU coding ? I'm testing the free program with Poser and it's great. But with my poor CPU performance rig, but with a very good GPU, The simulations are slow. I think to wait for this update before buying, but as there is a discount until feb 01, why not to try and wait for this upgrade while testing it more precisely.

Hi itou31,

Yes, the GPU development progresses. I have some difficulties on a function that is not easy to convert. I want to work hard during february to write a first version. This conversion needs many modifications in the program because OpenCL don't accept some ways to manage the data in GPU memory.

Merci, Thanks for the news. I'm happy to invest in a great software. Just purchased it and also the DAZ bridge to test.

Does this version from yesterday now support GPU?

VirtualWorldDynamics ( ) posted Sat, 25 February 2017 at 3:37 PM

No the current version is only multithreaded. The next version will be with GPU programming.

So how is work on this upgrade coming along?

VirtualWorldDynamics ( ) posted Tue, 11 April 2017 at 10:42 AM

Sorry, this work progresses slowly because many functions have to rewritted.

Cool, understandable. If you can get it working it ought to be awesome! Can't wait until you're ready to show it off!

glad to hear you're working on it, thanks.
