Subject: Manipulating camera

Cosmasad1 ( ) posted Tue, 10 January 2017 at 8:34 AM · edited Wed, 18 September 2024 at 10:20 AM

Thank you for everyone's help on this forum. Some questions about manipulating the camera:

  1. I've discovered that by holding down the Alt key I can orbit around my figure and holding down the space bar I can move sideways and up and down.
  2. I see the "Camera Control" panel on the left. A little puzzled by it. If I want to look at the figure straight on - orthogonally - how do I do that?
  3. Finally, I can zoom with the mouse wheel, but it's a little rough. If I want to make subtle shifts in zoom is there any way to do that?

Thank you.

To look at the figure orthogonally, from the drop down menu on the camera controls that's labelled camera controls select the camera you want, eg from front or from left. (There are also keyboard short cuts) You can zoom either from the camera controls by clicking on the hand icons and moving the mouse. However for more fine control in the parameters palette, the one on the right of the preview window in default set up choose cameras from the body part drop down menu, then choose the camera you are using. Then you can use the transform (dolly x,y,z) and rotation controls to move the camera as you wish

Thank you, Nails60. Could you tell me what the keyboard short cuts are? I don't see them in the manual.

If you go to the camera controls drop down menu, you should find the keyboard short cuts there next to each camera, eg in windows the main camera is ctrl+m and the front camera is ctrl+f.
