Moho is great, full-fledged animation application (Smith Micro). Not terrible expensive. I've used it and it's fairly easy to learn.
Of course, if money is no object, there's Toon Boom Harmony, which is used by all the major animation studios. Good luck to your fledgling animator!

I am also new and thinking of trying. I have poser pro 11 and crazytalk animator 3. What is the best and easiest way? Do i need mimic. I would be wanting to make M4 and V4 talk i suppose.

I'm giving my son a Watcom tablet for Christmas because he's been drawing by hand all his life and wants to start animating. Any suggestions for a good program for beginning animators? Thanks!
