Subject: Need some help for finding the 'best' render settings for landscapes

Neogeo90 ( ) posted Thu, 09 March 2017 at 1:00 AM · edited Tue, 07 January 2025 at 9:08 PM

I'm always amazed when I see artists rendering those extremely realistic works with high resolution textures and quality lighting. What ressources are required for that? Unless I'm using some wrong settings in Vue 2015 (in fact, I'm using the default settings because I didn't do much with it at all because of some private reasons), the textures and materials used in most of those great artworks can't be vanilla stuff that's shipped with the program itself.

But when I render a patch of grass up close for example, the texture on it doesn't look like real grass at all. It reminds me more of game-grass like seen in vanilla Skyrim or such. I also understand that there is no 'perfect' preset or settings for rendering because of the variety of art styles. However, I prefer plain realism, not some cinematic or old fashioned looking stuff. Just as if I was in that scene myself and took a photo directly with my eyes.

Really hoping that someone can help out in this case.

Do we have any experts at hand to help out here?

Google "Vue render settings " and it will pull up some good articles and videos.
