Subject: Ok to share libraries?

VolcanicMink ( ) posted Wed, 12 April 2017 at 5:50 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 6:52 AM

I upgraded to PP11 from PP12, but I didn't remove PP12.

When I load M4 into PP11, the skin zones for his head and hip are lighter than the rest. This isn't happening in PP12, and I can't seem to fix it. It's the same Michael from the same library. Is there a problem with both programs sharing the same library that would cause this? Any other ideas?

Also, Poser has dropped a lot of props that it used to have in the PP12 library. Will the new program accept the use of the old primitives? I guess I could just make them in the modeler but it was nice having them right there.

ok . .. let's address each question.

  1. with the M4 figure ... most likely is a conflict with the SF shader, not a problem. Please to to CGbytes and get EZskin3 (it's free)... follow directions and viola! Your M4 will look fine.
  2. You can import libraries for any earlier version of Poser (and make your own runtimes to customize as well).

Come back and get help here. I love PP11 and will help all I can.

You could also try using the FireFly Render Engine In Poser 11. To enable it,

  1. Click Render (across the top)
  2. then Render Settings
  3. Click Firefly.
  4. here you will find the stuff you are used to seeing in PP2012!

Good luck & Happy Rendering!

There is a problem with the base M4 texture that comes with the model and IIRC, it's the material room node arrangement that's the culprit. Using EZSkin will correct that problem.

I've just compared the props library from PP2012 to PoserPro 11 and the contents are the same. In fact there is an extra in PP11 as there is an updated Superfly version of 'The Pad' in the Places folder.

Thank you. I have not been receiving email notices when I get replies. I got EZSkin, still figuring it out. Takes me a while ;)

I'm guessing you mean Poser Pro 2012 (pro version of P9), vs Poser 11 Pro.

You can simply "point" P11Pro's library to the existing Pro2012 library and P11Pro will add that library to it's repertoire.

Regarding M4/V4, et al, you might try running the .bat files for each doll to "initialize" them in the P11Pro library.
