Subject: Nationale7's 1953 Studebaker Starliner - hotrodded

seachnasaigh ( ) posted Tue, 02 May 2017 at 8:19 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 9:14 PM

I had started a 1953 Studebaker Starliner to use with TinkerBell's Drive-In Cafe', but I noticed from a gallery posting that there is already a 1953 Studebaker Starliner by Nationale7. So, I've made a blown (Roots supercharged) engine for it, and now I'll need to cut a hole in the hood. I'll also add "big 'n' little" tires, probably on Torq-Thrust wheels. And work up Superfly materials.

I love this body style (designed by Raymond Loewy); it was ahead of it's time in 1953. blown motor in situ - before hood cuts 1200p.png

Really nice... I'd like to see more when you get further

Thanks, Kazam561 & Boni. 😁

I'll post work-in-progress shots. I've added appropriate wheels and tires, and have partial suspension/driveline meshes added...

Rounded wheel wells, a frame, headers/exhaust, and enough driveline/suspension to be passable if seen in camera...

Looks like a good build so far... nice work... :)

Don't have any of the interior materials worked up yet, but here are the first Superfly test renders:

Excellent work! Looks FANTASTIC!

I had a few of those AMT Studebaker kits as a kid and remember them fondly. Any chance we might also see a Bonneville Racer in the future?

BTW, any chance you might be interrested finishing my Ford Anglia/Popular Gasser I started a few few years ago?

Needs doors and hood cutouts and of course a proper interior and drivetrain. But I tried to build the mesh as light as possible for Poser use, so I guess it could be a good headstart?

I actually have a particular fondness for dry lake cars; "Tabby", my '72 Chevelle, had a 3.08 differential and a full-step overdrive. Much top end, for a grocery getter.

I'd be willing to take a crack at that. I would be sparing of body polys too, for Poser. I'll use polys where detail is needed, but I try to be poly count conscious. I'd work up Superfly materials; do you have P11?

I've used a SuperGasser as a grocery getter, too. You can get a ~lot~ of groceries in the trunk of a '37 Chevy business coupe.

Wow.Sweet rides! Love that '37 Chevy! I used to own a few vintage cars in the past, but our local motoring laws here in Europe make driving something like that pretty much impossible.

Here's the link to the Anglia project: http://uploaded.net/file/vbq7c7se

Looks like I'm getting old. I actually already had fabricated a separate hood and doors and turned it into a Poser figure.

Anglia Gasser-2017.jpg

Do with it as you please. All I'm asking for is a copy of the finished car.

Sorry if I can't be of more help. Too many other projects. I'm staying with PP 2014 for the time being, so no use for Superfly shaders.

But I'm used to create my own shaders, anyway. 😄

Oh, it will save a ~lot~ of time that you already have the doors/hood cut open. 😀 That link fails on download attempt (then redirects to a "pay us for better downloading" page). You might try another hosting site if you have another account, or upload it to R'osity's freestuff.

If you're using Pro2014 then I'll make an effort to make decent Firefly materials (for you) and Superfly materials (for me). It's just so much easier to get good metals, glass, and "flip" paint jobs in Superfly - and lights, too.

P.S. I wondered why I was seeing a yellow cast on the front wheel; it dawned on me that the Studebaker is parked pointing toward the left side of the picture, and its amber marker lights are on. The '34 Ford's front wheel is picking up that amber light from the Studebaker's marker lights! 😃

The download should work, but you have to allow uploaded.to first if you use script- or adblocking. You also have to wait 30sec and solve a captcha before you can download.

But here's another upload that should work better http://www.megafileupload.com/1qm6a/Ford_Anglia_Gasser_Poser.zip

If all else fails, send me your email via Sitemail and I'll send it as an email attachement. It's just 170kb anyway. :-)

Ooops. You are right - my usual browser has ad & script shields on; I didn't realize that was the problem because the popup message said "all free downloads ports are currently full" (I think - it was in German). Anyway, I used the Avast! browser and it worked fine.
