Sadly, it has just been brought to my attention that Ralf Sessler, also known as Dimension3D or D3D, recently passed away. I am not exactly sure of the details.

Although I didn' t know him very well, I'm sure I am allowed to say that we have lost a legend, a friend, and one of the most helpful people in the 3D community. He was always ready to help. His products have been, without question, the most useful I have ever had the privilege of using. He will be missed terribly. My condolences to his friends and family.

This is a great loss for the poser world. :( His scripts has always been the best and the most useful ones that I've used.

We were recently notified by his brother about Ralf's loss and we requested material and info that hopefully will be delivered soon so we can have a proper site memorial like Dimension3D's legacy deserves!

He will be terribly missed - his precious scripts are the ones I always use while working on my own products. He was a generous heart and eager to help you out.. Once I asked him about a particular script to clean up and remove all nodes from an item's materials (extremely time saving while texturing) - the next morning I found such a script just for me in my inbox! He was a legend and one I'll always remember and cherish his talent!

His soul will be peaceful knowing that an entire community will remember him with extreme fondness, respect and acknowledgement of his unique work! He was one of a kind!

I was terribly sad to hear about this. It was very nice of his brother to let us know, or he would have just disappeared. I tested a couple of his scripts on my mac. He was a very nice person and as you say Ero, very talented. Love esther

Such sad news. I can't say I knew him well, but he talent will be missed. His "Runtime Repair" is invaluable asset now that I'm rebuilding a decades' worth (give or take) of runtimes after a hard drive (and backup hard drive) failure in January. It really does help clean up bad file paths and a few other things that sometimes get missed in even purchased products and has saved me from throwing the PC out the window a few times. Morphing Clothes gave me the opportunity to dress my beloved morphed misfits pre-Poser Pro 2014 and will probably still be useful if I get it installed and works on Windows 10 Home. I haven't had time to sit down and learn to use Poser File Editor and a couple of his other genius tools yet. A sad loss for the community and my sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.

I just had the same reaction as I opened Runtime Repair to start work on rebuilding Chip's runtime. Such a loss and I didn't even know him well at all. I think I only personally communicated with him directly once or twice. I don't haunt the forums much and haven't for years, so I don't think I have had much contact with him that way, but I'm really feeling sad for his loved ones this morning. And I don't think it's just because I'm not feeling too well this morning and my head's sort of in a weird place as a result. Since my runtime hard drive malfunctioned in January, I have spent a lot of time with Runtime Repair trying to put my digital life--and my Poser addict's horde--back together and I've silently thanked Dimension3d so many times for Runtime Repair as I work. I wish I'd said it out loud and in person now.

He and I were going to work together on the Genesis 3 Poser Updater. Unfortunately, we came to a disagreement over rigging. I felt I was right. He felt he was right. This is what happens when two stubborn engineers together. Since he had other projects to work on, we split amicably and I created the tool myself. No hurt feelings.

I will say I would not have been able to get Genesis 3 into Poser without his DSON Editor and Poser File Editor tools.

I could never thank him enough for the GenX plugin. The plugin allowed me to realized a dream. I put a my favorite Victoria 3 character on a Victoria 4 body. The GenX plugin was the reason I used the Genesis figures at all.

RIP Ralf. You are missed.

Sad news indeed. His family has my deepest condolences. That said, I rarely used any of his scripts, including the ones that come with Poser._ (Wait... wait, put the pitchforks down and hear me out. I'm not badmouthing his scripts. in fact, just the opposite._ I'm wondering which scripts you guys found most useful and what it does, for those of us who might like to get hold of some of those scripts.

Like others here I did not know him personally, which was clearly our misfortune. I did however buy and use a few of his scripts and his ability and talent was evident in the seamless way they worked.

He will be a loss to the community but clearly nothing like the loss to his family and friends, my thoughts, prayers and best wishes to them all.

Well, while using Poser 9, I used his Poser included script to Hide/Unhide dials, as that option's not available in older non-Pro versions. Not sure if it was available for PP2012. With my PP11 now I don't need it, as that option's now available in the Parameters Panel.

The script of his I use the most is the Poser File Editor, which allows me to tweak file paths and version numbers as well as a number of other things in cr2, hr2, pp2, pz2 etc. files. I know these files can be tweaked in any plain text editor, but with the PFE, all options (and suboptions) are "collapsed" in a hierarchy chart, which makes it easy to zoom into to check just what you want to look at. Of course, there's also the find/replace option and others.

I don't create much as far as morphs or poses go, but I've been thinking of getting his Binary Morph Editor for editing pmd files, as well as his Pose Cleaner, just in case.

I have used a couple of the editors such as the Poser File Batch Editor and PMD Editor but the script I used the most was 2ndSkin so quick and easy to use for tight clothing on any figure.

Don't overlook the standalone utility programs, like RunZip and Poser File Editor. You can get these in a bundle; there are 29 programs in my collection.

Select a file -say a prop you just finished- and RunZip will package it in a runtime zip, gathering all of the needed support files (geometries, texturing JPGs, etc) for you. Huge time saver and you don't forget files. Poser File Editor lets you modify/correct pp2/cr2 etc files, with the elements displayed in an easily readable format, using icons for geometry OBJs and such, so as to make it easy to scan for and find all geometry references, for example.

I haven't bought and of his scripts but have some free ones I can't live without. Those include delete (deletes multiple things at once), and figure to prop (for converting conformers to dynamic) and before I was able to drag and drop conformers to a figure, I used conform (conforms multiple figures to another figure).

Ah, I think I've just solved the mystery as to why I rarely used any of D3D's scripts. Most of his programs or scripts appear to be Windows based and until very recently I was a Mac only user. Another reason why I'm no big fan of Studio. For the longest time it wouldn't run on my Mac, and any of the thrid party apps and plugins for it were all windows only as well.
