Just a question.....

Is it possible to reinstate SOME kind of limit on gallery uploads? I just counted over 50 uploads (I stopped counting at 53) by the same person with today's date (07-26-17). I know the unlimited uploads is well intentioned, but uploading this many images in one day seems a tad excessive (no matter how well done). Most of us do well to upload one or two images a couple times a week, and it's a bit discouraging to have our images lost in a flood of 50+ images by the same person.

I would suggest something like 5 a day for non-Prime members, and maybe 10 - 12 for Prime members. This is just a thought on the numbers, but clearly there needs to be some kind of limit.

Hmmm, that's odd, as I've never been able to upload more than 5 or 6 renders to my gallery on any given day.

I thought it was a limit of 5 per day unless you are a Subscriber or Staff then it's unlimited....

The limit is 5 for non-prime members and unlimited for prime. Or it was. I'm not sure who the OT was talking about, but I found someone who posted over 80 images and isn't prime. I personally think 5 for non-prime members and 10 for prime is good, maybe 15 for prime. What's the point of the rest of us posting if it's just going to get buried in an hour?

I think RedPhantom's suggestions are reasonable. Unlimited seems way too many, after all, how many renders can someone produce in one day? Unless of course, this is a new member here who has a couple of years worth of renders to upload to a brand new gallery.

That said, I hadn't uploaded any renders for about 4 or 5 years, and back in March I uploaded 28 new-ish renders, but I had to do them 5 per day, so it took me 6 days to get them all uploaded. That's how it should be. I have no idea why/how someone could upload an unlimited amount in one day.

It was housra1967 I was looking at too. I opened their gallery and did some math. They uploaded 84 yesterday. There are a few new ones today but so far, not like yesterday. They've been a member for a while but the gallery didn't have anything before yesterday. Perhaps there was a need to re-upload things. Or perhaps they were trying to get enough reward points to get a gift certificate to go along with a coupon or sale. Who knows.

The limit is 10 Gallery uploads a day unless you are a Prime member, then, you are allowed unlimited uploads as a perk of subscribing to Prime.

So Kristi, the limit per day for a non-Prime member is 10 per day? Interesting, is that a recent change, because I've never been able to upload more than 5 per day, either this past March, or years ago?

The person that flooded the gallery with all those posts does not appear to be a Prime member - at least I don't see the little Prime icon. Even so, I think some kind of limit might be worth considering. Uploading 50 - 80 images at once seems a bit excessive. Just my $.02 worth..... Thanks for listening.

I am not looking much at the galleries here anymore, as the adverts really put a downer on me, I do not have the time to wait so long for pages to load because of some plumbing or what not advert, but unlimited uploads, as nice as it sounds is a bit too much, even for prime members, those with not so many images to upload are getting overlooked.I am not a prime member and very happy with my upload limit but who could ever need unlimited uploads. I would even consider prime membership if something else would be offered than unlimited uploads.

Why not make a "Prime Member" gallery for those members to dump their images into? Doesn't quite seem fair to drown others images in a flood of unmannerly prime members who want to flood the gallery with their images. I say unmannerly because even if I WAS prime and even if I COULD post unlimited images I wouldn't upload more than 5 a day for the above reasons. As it is, I can't even MAKE that many images for crying out loud.Those members that aren't prime still buy stuff in the MP, so it's not like they don't contribute to the site also.

I just realised that you get render reward points for each image entry, so I wonder if that is why some people spam the gallery in order to get points. I would strongly suggest changing that because that is taking advantage and with some of those who upload a shitload of images you can tell they are made in 2 minutes just to upload and grab points. I think that is just wrong.Why not, as LaurieA said, give Prime Members a Gallerie with unlimited uploads and set a limit of 5 for the rest of us. As it stands, I find it hard to wade through the 2-minute point grab images to get to those that are done well and with the genuine purpose to show them to fellow members.

I agree....I've even seen 5 croppings of the same image in the galleries ffs from regular members so they get their five limit for the day. I'm pretty sure that's not what you set out to achieve when you started the points system ;). Quantity definitely does NOT equal quality when it comes to the galleries. It just really pisses off the people who are genuinely trying to upload their best stuff, regardless of how many points they get each month.

As for an unlimited section for Prime members that would just move the problem to that section so I don't really see the point in that.

I'm all in for a limit too for Prime members, like 10 or so per day. Or only give points for the first 5 per day or something.

That would be a good Idea to only reward the first 5 images and limit to 10. I find it terrible that people do abuse this because that is what it is. I do upload 5 at times but they are all different and I would not mind not getting any points. I think the spend x amount money a month and get % of that as a reward at the end of the month was fine. It was fair.

I've commented on this before - started this thread, actually.... Not that anyone in admin seems to give a hoot....

Once again, someone - who is NOT, I repeat, NOT a Prime member has loaded up the galleries with well over 50 uploads - I stopped counting after 60 or so......

I know they're probably trying to build up reward points. But if you are going to have unlimited uploads as a privilege for Prime Members, then restrict it to Prime Members.

Judging from the non-response to the last several posts in this thread, it appears that no one in Admin really cares, but we can always hope.
