You are not having a bad day until...... You take a tour of the wtc at 450 miles an hour. hmm Anyone think these jokes going around the net are gross?

I don't think they're gross. I think they come from people who haven't had anything truly awful happen to them. That will change. It does for everyone. And when it does, they will fail to see what's funny about innocent people dying. Mike

It seem that the first thing that happens after any major event, good, indifferent, bad, or downright tragic and horrible like WTC, is a series of gross, bad taste 'jokes' all over the net. The fact that the brunt of most of them is the "other side" does not make these so-called jokes any less vulgar. BTW, this is the Poser forum, what's the connection?

Comedy is tragedy + time, according to Woody Allen in Crimes and Misdemeanors. Sadly, not enough time has passed to make these type of jokes okay. Of course there is never anything funny about such a tragic event, but the ability to laugh in the face of terror is unique to Americans. What other nation sends comedians to entertain the front line troops? Tragedy + time = comedy. For example, I have an uncle that was killed in a terrible auto accident. We like to say that the last thing that went through his mind was the back seat. Now that's a terrible joke and would not have played well at his funeral... but some years later even his widow chuckles at it. Tragedy plus time is all it takes.

True words Mesh. When I think my life sucks I check out the folks who live outside in the winter, and not all of them are lazy, some just got down and can't seem to get back up again. I think I have it pretty damned good compared to some. I haven't seen these jokes, but what you say about Americans laughing at the worst of times does ring true. When I worked as an R.N. in the Emergency Room, some of the humor there would shock most people, but it is sometimes the only way to get through some of the things we saw. Lots of horrific trauma, glad I no longer do that for a living. Marque
