Virtual World Dynamics F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 27 6:49 am)
Yes, Philippe gave you the right solution. You can rename the cloth when you want. It is the "_VWD" text that says to the program that this object is simulated object. If you look at the scene, you will see that the original exists yet. If you do a simulation again using this hidden object, the current "_VWD" simulated object will be replaced.

It looks like the Bridge (version 1.4.0.114) is not completely compatible with DAZ 4.10.0.101 It does not copy all surfaces, and copied objects cannot be reused by the Bridge.
Surfaces If when running Bridge for first time on a cloth object the user does not manually selects the "Read Material Library" in the OBJ Import Options popup the new object will only receive one surface called "default". If the user does manually select "Read Material Library" then the new object still only receives one surface but that surface has the same name as the first surface in the original object.
New Object reuse The new object cannot be reused by Bridge as cloth. Even if object name is changed. It will fail at READ OBJ FILE and give an error "Violation d'accès à l'adresse 0068D91D dans le module 'VWDClothAndHair.exe', Lecture de l'adresse 00000004.". (my apologies if I have misquoted the French, my one year of high school French was more than forty years ago) Have tried saving new object and removing "VWD" from object name and then reimporting new object (exported/saved as DUF, OBJ, DAE, FBX). But all attempts to use new object as cloth with Bridge fail with the same error. Have tried clearing all exchange files. OS decimal delimiter is set to ".".
Work around Use DAZ 4.9.4.122 NOTE a new object created via VWD in DAZ4.10 can be reused as cloth in DAZ4.9 however it only has single surface so cannot use all same materials as original.
To all, Thanks for your support. I confess I didn't look at DForce
Don't worry. With Philippe, we will find a method to continue with Daz Studio.
For now, I have to work on other projects (money needed!!). But i work on meshes, i try to find a mesh shape that will allow to create presets for VWD. With the final goal to make a converter (conforming to dynamic). I will send an example in the free stuffs.
I will continue to work on GPU programming very soon.
Have a great day.
Gérald

I'm using the Daz Studio bridge. After a simulated pose has been sent back to the host and VWD has been closed, is there a way to import the modified object as cloth again for further simulation? If I select the object, the "Cloth" import option is grayed out. I tried converting the object to a figure, but that made no difference and I don't think that's the issue. What property of the generated object prevents VWD from importing it again as cloth?
I didn't see anything about this in the various manuals or in previous threads here. Thanks.
