Do you still have the runtime folder on your computer? Use the file browser on your computer to find it. You will then need to add the "runtime" folder to your Poser library, do the same with the "download" folder. Adding libraries is done within Poser, it just helps to know where they are located on your PC. That should fix your issue

I can't load Poser 8 on my PC it just crashes the program. If you can see an "add library" button, use it to browse to where your runtime folder is. The add the library.

dateablechameleon ( ) posted Wed, 04 October 2017 at 6:47 PM

Sometimes firewall or anti-virus protection can stop the library displaying, sounds odd but if you unplug your Internet cable from your PC then restart Poser to see if the library works, if it does then it indicates the network settings are causing the problem.

To screenshot, there is a print screen button on the keyboard, press that and it will store an image of the desktop. Load up an image editor and use the paste command to show the screen shot. Use the rectangle selection tool to copy the part of the screen you're interested in and paste it into a new forum post.

Another thought, there are compatibility issues with Poser 8 and some versions of IE Poser and IE Loading the latest version of Adobe Flash came sometimes work. This occurs quite a bit for various reasons, if not already done so might be worth searching the main Poser forum for posts on blank library and Poser 8

dateablechameleon ( ) posted Thu, 05 October 2017 at 5:45 PM

Well I may not have answers much yet.........but I did learn how to screen shot.......lol.....thanks for that one...But yeh still got more help from you...so yes I am very grateful to both you n Druc.........after i try searching.......will let you guys know if my Poser works again....Thank you very much guys......hugsssss

druc ( ) posted Sun, 08 October 2017 at 4:00 AM

Is your Poser 8 a 32 bit or 64 bit version? I don't know if this would cause a problem. 32 bit library on a 64 bit pc is not a problem.

dateablechameleon ( ) posted Sun, 08 October 2017 at 2:57 PM

My computer is 64 bit.....but there are no files in my Poser 8 only 32 bit files.......I spent 2 days near 5hrs each trying to fix stupid thing.......includes reading what i could find....had to stop for awhile......just gave me a headache........lol.....I really appreciate all you are doing to help me.......Thank you kindly....hugssss

feecozen ( ) posted Mon, 09 October 2017 at 11:16 AM

You may need to install, or update, Flash Player. Poser libraries use Flash, and the blank white library area sometimes results from the Flash plugin being missing or out of date. Go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/about/ to check. You can then download the current version from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ -- but don't download from anywhere else.

dateablechameleon ( ) posted Mon, 09 October 2017 at 4:31 PM

Thank you for that will try and get back to you all........Thanks for links + help Feecozen......hugsss

Ahoi! Let me try to help. A main question in advance: Where is your Poser content based on your computer? In best case it is in C: -> User -> Public -> Public Documents -> Poser Content. Public would be great, because it means no right restrictions. Once you identified, can you please tell us here? Sure we will find the trick. Poser 8 got an updated content management, which made it easier... I worked with Poser since version 6 and I think I remember this problem, unfortunately years ago. My first idea is, that this is an windows right management problem. So, to know, where your Poser content is on your disk will help.

dateablechameleon ( ) posted Tue, 10 October 2017 at 5:26 PM

ok........this is where content is C: -> Users -> Public -> Public Documents -> Poser Content also go to Libraries>Documents>Poser 8 content does that make sense....i have no idea how it works like that............ does that mean the 2nd way i find content which is not in Public Documents maybe i got content twice or something...........i have no idea...the more I look the more confused I get........lol Any more Help you can offer Scrib............would be sooooooooo grateful...........Thank You one n All.............hugsssssss

Scrib ( ) posted Thu, 12 October 2017 at 2:58 PM · edited Thu, 12 October 2017 at 3:11 PM

No, it's not a problem so far. We just have to find out, where your content is. Please check the folder Public Documents -> Poser Content. There should be the runtime folder and there the Geometry folder. Just to find out, if your content is based there. If the runtime is empty, please check the Livraries -> Documents->Poser 8 content. Once we found out, where your content is, we can do the next step. In Poser 8 the library management changed. If you content is doubled, no problem. We just have to direct Poser to the right path.

Scrib ( ) posted Thu, 12 October 2017 at 3:08 PM · edited Thu, 12 October 2017 at 3:16 PM

Once you know, in which of the two runtimes your content is based, set the path like shown in the screenshotPoserScreeny.png

Do not choose the runtime folder itself. The folder you have to choose is the Poser 8 Content, or the folder where your filled runtime is in. Maybe it's your Poser 7 Content folder. Just check the Geometry folder in the runtime folder.

If no success, next thing I would like to know, are you using Windows 7 with Edge Browser or Internet Explorer? We than have to look if Flah is activated in your browser. Unfortunately I don't have Windows 7 anymore. But you will find a good step by step guide about how to activate Flash in Internet Explorer (Windows 7) by following this link: http://www.intowindows.com/enable-adobe-flash-player-in-internet-explorer/

dateablechameleon ( ) posted Thu, 12 October 2017 at 5:45 PM

Thank you for all your trouble Scrib.....problem is i cant add the right Poser content.......if you scroll up near beginning of thread.....my Library part is just all white....no add anything.......Yes i have Windows 7 and i use Google Chrome for browser. But for now ill try link you gave me....see what happens......Thank you so much.......again...hugssss

Scrib ( ) posted Fri, 13 October 2017 at 1:36 AM

I think Poser uses the Internet Expolorer Interface/API, that's why you have to configure the Internet Explorer, whether or not you are using Google Chrome for Web browsing. So can you please check your IE version? You will need to work with Internet Explorer 7 up to 10.

Smith Micro: "INTERNET EXPLORER 11: Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2010 are not compatible with Internet Explorer 11 and may fail to start or fail to display the embedded library if you have Internet Explorer 11 installed. You can look into uninstalling Internet Explorer 11 and reinstalling an older version of Internet Explorer (versions 7-10 should work fine) to get the embedded library working again."

To go back to an older IE version isn't hard. Here you will find a good explanation on youtube (less than 3 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUy5LKDdMTs

Online Now!

The main camera should be your default setting for any new scene in Poser. If this continues to be a problem, I would recommend resetting Poser to Factory Default under the General Preferences panel and reconfigure your custom settings.
