Subject: Selling art through Renderosity

I've been doing forum searches and gallery page searches and have not come up with any type of "how to sell your art" here. I saw the limited information on the upload page, but no rules or percentages or what the sales program is all about. Is there any information out there?

Thanks!

I also see the licenses, but how exactly does the process work?

Okay I see what it is, I was thinking (and hoping) it was more of a process like DA has, selling actually printed images.....this is just selling a digital copy and then hoping against hope your design doesn't show up later on zazzle...Oh hell no....this is not a good program, unless you make stock images. For a program like this, I wouldn't do any real "art" but more like something that I didn't care if it was all over the internet or online stores, because that is what is going to happen, not always, but more then what we want.

So that would mean we all become vendors and Rendo would get their 50% cut, right?

Split on images is 60% to the artist. The dpi and size of the image is up to the artist. We are not doing prints at this stage. It may be something we do later. No one is required to do it. We put this in as a results of requests from our artists here who do sell images on other sites. It works about the same way. Those that WANT to sell images now can do that here. You are not required to upload a 300 dpi image or anything larger than 2000 x 2000. I, as an artist, would do the minimum requirements for a smaller price. But if I wanted to sell a large image with a tangible license for $299 I would do a larger, 300 dpi image. This is up to each individual artist.

More details are in the upload process. Percent for artist, link to available licenses. and in the dropdown after uploading an image you will see the pricing options you have as well. And your choices for payment.

At least this way you will make some money. And as Jenn said, if you want to sell images, you can. Nobody is forcing you but remember that right now, if someone wants your art, they can simply download it - and there is nothing you can do about it as long as they do not post it somewhere and you find out. Even then not much will be done, suing someone over an image is time-consuming and expensive.

So, yes, I think it is great that Rendo is giving the artists this option.

I have taken down one class of images as where I had years ago taken the models out of the commercial realm. For now my future seems stable after that.

for poser sales actual png's would be better so the possible clients could copy and past. if it would be no problem I could make available the png's with or without backgrounds
