Got the thing to work. Here's a quickie closeup (without spending a lot of time on morphs, etc., but used Tim Laubach's new texture-Amalgam). This time I saved the image from Poser and brought it into Cosmo and added the hair. Like this for closeup straighton, but for anything else, seems to me you will have to add the hair as layer from this version. I'm trying to remember what Paul Haefeli said about using 2. Seems pretty slick, altho' it would have been nice to have 1 with masks, etc. Def. easier. Diane B

I should have said I added a bit of noise, sepia filter, and a bit of smudge/soften first. Diane B

Very nice look, I just picked up the Cosmo 2 Deluxe. Have not had a chance to check it out yet. Thanks for the info ;-)

Hi Diane. Sorry if I sound a bit out of touch here but what exactly is this 'Cosmo' CD. Thanks, Colm...

Since everyone seems to have a 'hair' fetish, the Cosmo CD has reared its head again. I had seen it used on the Poser ng by Diana first last summer. Then several were using it primarily on PFO--its a program that allows one to 'makeover' their faces (men's styles and facial hair also) and see how they would look with different hairstyles, colors, etc. There are several versions-Paul says version 1, pink box is the best, but I had already bought 2 and had lots of problems getting it to work. There are like 300 hairstyles or so that you can add to your Poser women and the hair looks 'real'-however, the heads need to be full face front. Works really well for closeups but also for other ones. I saved Poser image and brought into Cosmo as 'my' face, but the first time I took Poser image into PSP, made a 'white' file (instead of face) to use in Cosmo so wig was by itself-brought into PSP and added it to Poser image using masks and layers. That works but is more trouble. Diane B

Right ... I just sussed it. Can you tell me what the resolution or average size of the images are? Is it worth getting?

Maybe some of the others can say better since I just got it to work tonight. Melanie has been using it too. I resized all the images, so can't remember what size/resolution. I started with 550 x 550 for Poser image initially. Diane B

Sounds good. 550x550 is excellent if that is just the haistyle alone. I may get this. Thanks for your quick reply/ Colm...

That is excellent, and you've convinced me to go look for this software too. Paul

The hair is 2D-I set up a 'dummy' file (you can bring in a file picture of yourself or whoever or use their 'models') just a white background and used it that way. I printscreened and then selected the area where the hair is, took it to PSP and used a mask, layers to add. For this image I created a closeup (bald) of a woman, saved that as a .jpeg and brought that file into the Cosmo program. You place the face with the help of a template and can enlarge or make it smaller as well as the hair styles. I then just kept playing with the hairstyles until I found one I liked. I then printscreened that, selected the image with hair, resized, and applied noise, filters, etc. Hope this helps. I think you would need to use the first method if you were using a full figure or had the head tilted to one side, etc. My 'mask' techniques are rusty so need to work on that a bit. Paul Haefeli says the version 1 has masks in place and supposedly it is easier to use that version to add to Poser heads in PS or PSP. Also, there are male hairstyles and facial hair. Diane B

Colm, I paid attention to pixel size today when I cut out the hair area from the app to create a mask. The area (that is the 'white' block with the hair style) is 272 x 375. What I've been doing is creating a mask from a selection, then copying and pasting the hairstyle as new layer and then resizing to fit the 550 x 550 poser image. maybe I'll try resizing before I make the mask. Anyhow, the initial hairstyle area is as I said above. I think I get better results when I do a closeup and apply the hair in the program, but that doesn't work if you have a full figure. Diane B

Thanks Diane, I will have to get this. Colm...

Colm, look up above at the 'full figure'-thread is something about more for those interested in Cosmo CD. It turned out fairly well. Took a bit more work-making mask, resizing, rotating, etc., (and I played with colorization a bit cause I wanted hair more highlighted), but not bad. Diane B
