Ok... Just got Dina... I installed her, and fired up Poser 4, and pulled up the Dina character... this is what I get... Is it normal for her to be so ugly? Sure didn't look like this in the images of her I've seen. Everything is sized at 100%, but it looks like her body is seriously out of proportion all around... Any idea what I've done wrong here? Or is she supposed to look so bad? Thanks, ZeroBase

ZeroBase, The rest of us who have Dina have been morphing her more or less with a few exceptions. Diane Guthrie has some very nice face and body morphs on www.thegrc.com and I have some here in free stuff along with some eye textures and faces (search for Daffy34). She doesn't look all that great in default, I'll agree, but she's really easy to morph. If you have any problems let me or one of the other Dina owners know and we'll try to get you going :). Beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder in Dina's case.

Thanks Laurie, I'll take a look at those morphs. Still can't believe that DSI touts this model as being so realistic and advanced, yet things like the head and shoulders are so obviously unrealistic (in the default settings anyways) -ZeroBase

Also they are working on a shoulder fix right now, if you are impatient do a search for jim burton, he's the one who came up with it and has posted the settings.

very easy to get her looking much better: place a bottle of bourbon ( or some other drink ) beside your computer,open it,start drinking.....a half bottle should fix most :-))

Dina ain't ugly if you have the right materials. this skin is made from skin of real people. I made that skin hope ya like it. Remco

Zero, A couple of pointers about Dina (and any other figure you might be using). First off, don't use Posers default camera setting. 35mm just doesn't do anything for any of the characters. Try 50mm at least or 85mm. Especially if you do a close up with the face camera. Why CL chose those lens settings as default, I will never know. Second, try some different light settings. Same thing. The Poser defaults pretty much make everything ugly. They are too bright and have too much green in them. Third, turn on anti-aliasing when you render. Dina takes a bit of getting used to, but even in her default state with the right hair and lighting she looks great. PS - I am playing with the new shoulder settings to make sure that they work through the whole range of motion.

A lot of it is a matter of taste. I like Dina. I think her mesh is more satisfyingly realistic than the hyper-fantasized characters you more commonly see in poser. I see a lot of attractive renders with the fantasy femmes, but I find I'm very impressed with what can be done with Dina. If you do a search on Dina in this forum, you'll find a lot of debate on her. A lot of wonderful renders, too. You'll also find a link to the website of the very sexy lady who's body was used to make Dina.

Yikes! I don't blame you for feeling a little dismayed, Zero. Dina's default looks just like the kid who played middle linebacker on my high school football team, but with huge boobs. I don't think you can blame the camera setting or the lights; woof! Remco's render looks good (nice moles; has she had them checked?)--but he sure went to a lot of trouble hiding Dina's enormous shoulders. Call me conventional, but I'd rather spend my money on a figure that looked good out of the box (Saluda comes to mind), or at least came loaded with the necessary anti-ugly morphs, so I didn't have to go hunting all over the internet for them. M

I like to morph Dina, it's true. But she takes morphing better than any model I've used yet. Here's my Dina (with Jim Burton's shoulder fix). Good one too Jim :). This figure is nothing more than changing the figure's height from ideal adult to fashion model and then rescaling most of the body parts back to 100% except for the waist (thinner), the hips (wider) and the calves (longer). I did scale the chest along the x smaller than fashion model, but it worked pretty well I think. The nice thing is that I can translate all that to Dina's clothing since nothing technically is "morphed" in the sense that the geometry shape is any different :). Laurie

BTW, Jim Burton's shoulder fix is very easy, even for me...he put an image up and explained exactly how to fix them. It was a snap and took about 5 minutes. Laurie

OK. I've been playing with the shoulders myself and I've tweaked Jim's settings a little. I need to try it on the clothes and let Dan see what he thinks, but I think it works pretty well. And I've refined Cherry some more, too. (NO postwork on this image) Still not sure if all the magnets I used on her will apply to the clothes. That's next.

Diane Now THAT is a lovely character! - A wonderful texture, especially! (love the hint of tan-linesG) (Hmmmmm.... I'm going to have to hunt down that shoulder-fix & hope I can figure how to apply it, or do you think it'll be offered as a free upgrade or some such to Dina's customers?)

That's getting MUCH better! The texture is nice and the abdomen is starting to look more like a persona nd less like a cylinder. For me the shoulders are still a problem area (they look like the ares are kind of sown on like a dolls... there is too deep a crease for my tastes) and the breasts. Still this is getting better all the time.

i have yet to see a post by someone mentioning it......i could be wrong, but i think this has yet to be said....my only gripe with Dina is simply this: you could park a Mack truck between her breasts.......if we could close that gap just a bit, we'd really have something......i completely agree that she has unmeasurable potential, and is more than likely worth the purchase......but the gap thing......i dunno...i mean, it's a common look among those who have implants, but in my experience, breasts have quite a bit less space between them......just my opinion, you understand ;)

Diane- I guess you know you should use identical settings (whatever you come up with) on the shoulders of the clothing too, which is why the settings would be better if they were "official"! Anyway, I'm trying to finish my Frenh Maid, but I get back on to SMD real-soon-now!
