Subject: Anyone check out this cloth modeling experiment yet.

Came across this Blender add-on recent. Though it is still in the experimental stage. It is available to try out. Can't wait to see where this add-on goes.

I'm actually having a look at it now... thank you for the heads-up on this! I had just invested USD$32.00 (comes to a bit more in AUD) in the Pay-Addon Cloth Weaver, available at BlenderMarket, which to my view it is not a mature product yet, so I'm looking at other options for developing dynamic cloth for Blender (and potentially Poser).

Although Cloth Weaver isn't ready for prime time, I still want to support the developer in order to encourage where he is going with it... so do have a look. My experience hasn't been good: I used a relatively high-poly model - one commonly used in Poser - for the cloth to collide against, which crashed Blender. Might need to do a decimate to the mesh in order to make Blender happy.

I'll have a go with this addon to see if it behaves better against high-poly models.

I've played with Cloth Weaver, but I hadn't heard of this new addon. Thanks for the link ladydrana.

This is a great add-on, and I am glad that Rich finally went public with this. I have been using it for several months, and he is just starting to fix issues that I thought I only had now that everyone is getting him excited about using it.

His official publication led me to another add-on, which I somehow missed, and thought that you guys/gals might be interested in too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSOrc_rPAnM

It is a Blender add-on that was written for there own online garment virtual try-on site, but have shared the add-on code as well.

Regarding Cloth Weaver, I have it too, and I wrote a small supplement add-on for it to give a little extra usage out of it. If anyone is interested you can find download it over here: https://community.hivewire3d.com/resources/cloth-weaver-extra-tools-panel-add-on.97/

And, ladydrakana, you asked me about the Make Pillow Tools Tab addon, and I have added the simple version up over there as well if you are still interested.

Thanks ladydrakana . But what version is ok?2.79?

ladydrakana ( ) posted Wed, 31 January 2018 at 4:35 PM

I have 2.79 and it ran fine on it. Otherwise, don't know what versions of blender it requires.
