"WIP 6-shot rocker-firer"
Coming soon... 6 shot mod-firer.

The whole construct looks pretty impractical from my standpoint. You're considering a hand-held rocket launcher with multiple projectiles with no vent and no recoil protection for the user. Weight alone would prevent anyone from holding it the way you are picturing it; a major potential for catastrophic injury. Also, shooting from the hip is a rather inaccurate method to aim such a high-velocity weapon even at short range. You don't need a blast shield, you need full body armor for adequate protection. Why do you think the bazooka and the disposable rocket launcher is shoulder held, for accuracy. Just my two-cents.
I think a vent at the rear would be needed for 2 reasons
Firstly to prevent recoil. Due to all those physicy things like equal and opposite reactions and conservation of momentum you need the gasses to be expelled from the rear of else the whole launcher would be pushed backwards. Secondly, you need a vent to stop pressure build up.. This is why rocket launchers and recoiless guns etc are much lighter than the equivlent conventional weapons, as they are basically (comparatively) thin metat tubes whereas a normal gun has to contain the pressure of charge used to propell the shell.

Yep, all that inconvenient stuff like getting your arms torn off by the recoil, then the flying canister full of explody things hitting you in the face as your arms disappear into the distance would kind of ruin your day.

Look to real life on man portable launchers..
Always have a rear vent, to counter the recoil. Nothing in the way of said vent, since back blast will cover several feet in a cone behind the operator.
Always shoulder mounted. This is to mitigate the recoil. Even the prone firing one's are shoulder mount..
Always single fire...
This is all based on reality tho...
A few years ago a Renderosity member named Mock made this 6-shot handheld missile launcher model:- I can't find it in Renderosity now, either in freestuff or in the marketplace. So I started from scratch and designed my own. I suspect that the man was supposed to sight it by looking at a small television image in the square panel on top of the rear end of its main part.

Here are some pics of the M202A2, a shoulder fired 4 round flash grenade launcher and flame thrower. I am not sure which model old Arnold is firing (from the movie 'Commando'), but the other one is the real deal. This should give you some ideas for your remodel.

You know, I thought that one was a Hollywood fantasy! Damn!
Nup. Scale down the apertures and increase the number of them and you have the basis of Metal Storm. Ok, then you have to have the rail delivery system and all that malarkey but still...

look up military nasa bazooka ,rockets.
if you go 100% fantasy ,people don't relate well to it. unless there's a movie explaining every thing.
if you mix military hard ware with just a small bit of fantasy people will accept it better.

I wasn't sure it was real either. Granted I was a young teen when that movie came out. I've seen the real thing up close and personal. I didn't get to fire it, but I watched them demo it. The exhaust smells really rancid and strong. You don't want to be downwind of that.

Would it need a blast vent at rear? Or would be handleable without a blast vent at rear?
