Subject: Nothing to buy

Robo2010 ( ) posted Sat, 13 January 2018 at 2:27 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 1:04 AM

I purchased poser pro 11 in 2017, and I still use Victoria 4, and M4. Looking through the market place here and DAZ, that their is GND, and V8? But all the characters, and stuff is for DStudio. I have my eye on a product, but the requirements are for DS and for G8. Their is a post you can install G8 in poser, but you have to do stuff, and the thought of going through the process, not going to happen. I used to use DS, but got upset of products that is no longer supported for the new DS. Stopped buying, due to losing my money on products that is later not supported. And here I can still use Victoria, M4 in Poser "11". So, in the marketplace I am on a standstill. Searching for Hair, a V4 new characters.

As a vendor I listened to buyers and made more V4 characters. I was "rewarded" with barely any sales....

There is still a lot for you to buy in V4 products here. You'll just have to go further in the list to get them, but they are here. Also take a look at the project E figure that was released at CGbytes and should be here some time soon. Also I've been using DS for a long time, what exactly stopped working? Only thing would probably be plugs in the change between DS version 3.0 and 4.0 but then there's been plugins that were broken in the python upgrade in Poser 8 as well, so there is that. Put I'm still able to use some D3 items in the latest version of DS, so what is it that isn't working?

However, if you're asking the vendors to shift back to poser when the sales are no longer there, there's been many threads on this subject.. bottom line is each software comes with its choices. Use what you want, but don't expect vendors to lose money over your choice.

Been buying a lot of V4 products when V4 came out, and even after, for poser 6. Now most is on G8 and only for Daz studio. My plugins from Poser 6, still function just fine in Poser 11 Pro, although I get better results with some other character textures and even the firefly is better, along with super fly. In DS when using at the time version 2 point something, then 3.0 came out. It was the end of my purchased plugins. I begged for an update, but the venders said they would but never did. Now DS is at 4.7? I moved from DS to blender, and the engine in Blender is wonders. Just that thought if putting Poser 11-Pro files into Blender. But when I come to renderosity, and look at some of the products, it is like nothing for me. If only G8 would be okay for Poser 11-Pro.

We are currently working on some content for Poser behind the scenes here. With our vendors and the ones who are involved are very excited about what we have coming up. Don't quit looking just yet. 😄 Poser content is not non-existant. Do you use the Marketplace dropdown and then click New Poser to check what is released for Poser each day? We do have items releasing every week, nearly every day for Poser users.

Just today we had a hair for Poser release and a beautiful new Character for Pauline 2...which is the figure that comes with Poser 11. 😄

Robo2010 ( ) posted Sun, 14 January 2018 at 5:13 PM

Thank-you so much, Although I can make my own buildings, scenes, props, but not clothing, hair and some other stuff. Poser 11-Pro has so much potential now, than before. Myself from PP, Poser 5, Poser 6, were difficult programs, and a lot of money went into it. And now seeing Poser 11 Pro, I am like wow. The render engines is a huge improvements. Then seeing in Market place for the new poser, it lacks. This render is V4.2, Koz hair, done using Firefly. Only took about 2 minutes of render time. Beautiful. The hair and makeups are beautiful. And I completely understand where you are coming from. I started using Poser years ago..and I still enjoy it very much. As I said, we are working on some things..stay tuned. 😄

There is a ton of V4 and M4 content in the Legacy store at PoserAddicts but no one buys anything there anymore. Poser users complain there is nothing for V4 and M4, yet there are thousands of products which rolled off of Renderosity which we took up and continue to offer long after they were removed from the store here. To allow those amazing products to continue to be legally available to those who supported and used Poser. As Male-M3dia said above - we saw products that were the norm over 10 years ago, continue to be created for, but even Smith-Micro and Content Paradise don't actively make anything for their own figures which compete with anything being made for Daz Studio and its Genesis line of figures. The money is there in that market, which is technologically growing and moving forward. If Poser was so the product of choice then Poser exclusive stores like PoserAddicts would have tons of sales rather than maybe clearing around $20.00 USD a month in profits. I just left it there in case anyone wanted the amazing products which are in that store, and that makes over 5000+ Poser related products, which no one seems to want.

I'm going to work only with Daz Studio going forward in my new online shop and won't waste my time with "requests" for Poser Only products as the number of sales for those is so minimal, it's not worth making unless its a fully paid commission. Sorry but supporting Poser alone has become bad business. And I started with Poser in the days of Curious Labs and Metacreations. I go back to 1995, and was the largest supporter of Poser, begging for tech updates and better figures etc, and no one listened. And eventually the ancient interface was locked into everyone's minds as the only way, and Poser vs Daz Studio splits happened. It was nasty and caused companies to go bankrupt and close their doors - the ones who closed, lost money due to Poser and defected over to Daz Studio. And you all saw that the last bastion of Poserdom (RDNA) sold itself to Daz3D, and then Smith-Micro got rid of every single person who ever had anything to do with Poser's creation... That could be a good thing, but I think after so long of ignoring reason, they have one hell of a mountain to climb to out do the success which advancement has brought to Daz Studio.

Even Renderosity has moved to get more Daz Studio content into the store. And I believe they will see that the benefits of DS products vs old supporting products of Poser (V4 and M4) aren't really bringing in very large sums of profit. Sadly its a reality. My beloved PoserAddicts store is like a star that is about to go out, because no one cares to support it anymore, and it's almost exclusively Poser content. That proves to me that no one cares, and only a few people are loud about it, and wouldn't actually care if that star burned out and disappeared, like RNDA and YURDigital and so many other Poser product stores.

I don't have such a warning in Chrome and that's with my company's security software. Sounds like your software, not his website that has been the same for over 7+ years.

The move from http to https as the default protocol has been underway for awhile now. What you're seeing is the standard warning that he's still using the older protocol.

Male_M3dia ( ) posted Wed, 24 January 2018 at 1:59 PM · edited Wed, 24 January 2018 at 2:01 PM

As I said, the site hasn't changed since last used. So if you're getting the message it's because your browser changed. To be honest, I don't use firefox because of the way it's coded, it always crashes after an hour of use unlike chrome (though all of them seem to have memory leaks). Nevertheless, profotograf's post is still true, that site is barely visited these days, though they have probably the best collection of male poser products some of which is not available on other sites. That said, when those products are gone from that site, they're gone forever so get it while you can. I know he's working on a new site, but that's going to be focused on DS products and I don't see updates for that poser site happening.

OK, that makes sense. Once it's all set up for https, then we won't have this problem anymore.

Well, just for the heck of it, I just tried http instead of https, and then I was able to see the site just fine.

Again, the effort is going into the new site, not this one. So there won't be any changes to the site. You should get any content you want from it before it closes.

I got there more efficiently by simply googling 'Poser Addicts'

And wow, there is a lot of cool stuff there, lots of great M4 stuff and tons of stuff for older poser figures

I dropped a small pile of $ this evening If I had known Poser Addicts existed before now, I would have bought more stuff sooner

Will there be some kind of advanced warning before Poser Addicts as it now exists disappears? The thought of that really makes me sad. I haven't shopped there in a long time, because I wasn't sure it was still safe to use. There still is all kinds of cool stuff there, though.

I wouldn't count on it. Usually it's too much hassle with announcements because everyone becomes presumptuous and will want an extreme discount, and it's a broker and as such the products aren't PoserAddicts to do that. I know the new site is being worked on, but there's no time line. I doubt it will shut down tomorrow, but if there's something you want I wouldn't wait to get it either.

Thanks for the tip about Poser Addicts. I'll cruise through and see what they have.

BTW: I also have the same issue as the original poster. For the work I'm doing now, I prefer to Poser 11 (geometric edges and live comic book preview are MUCH better than the results I can get with scripted cameras in DazStudio).

Simply put: If Poser does not find a way to EASILY support the various Genesis figures, it will die. Making improvements to their own figures, like Paul and Pauline? Who cares? There's not enough product out there to make them even worth considering. Dawn and Dusk are MUCH BETTER investments in time and purchasing power.

Many of us don't know these Poser products exist because the search engine here is broken. Many times I search for only M4 items and as usual get very few results. Then last week I was browsing for something else and found all of these M4 items that never appear during a search and they are old items. I also wish when I search for M4 items that V4 items would not also appear. It just shows the numbers are all wrong.

Smith-Micro/Content Paradise have virtually flipped us the finger when they filled their store with DAZ Studio-only content. This just shows their betrayal to the Poser community and lack of support. I hope nobody upgrades to the next version of Poser since SM no longer supports it. I don't plan to and I've been using Poser since Fractal Design days. When the well dries up here I'm gone.

I get warnings from Malwarebytes when I go there. Who wants to buy from an unsecure website? I was hacked a few years ago on Renderosity then nobody said anything for several months. Typical businesses these days. They let you know long after the damage has been done to your accounts then they wonder why nobody supports them.

I just checked the PoserAddicts store and it appears to be open for business. It looks like the same old cheesy stuff from the last century so I'll pass. I still wouldn't trust using a credit card there. It might be under new management by a scammer. I've had too much experience with that.

Seriously, if you're concerned about security you would buy an actual security suite instead of some freebie software. I have $100 a year subscription to norton for my multiple machines, not one warning on my end and it's end to end protection. Haven't have a security issue in decades. Malwarebytes isn't that good to be honest and a lot of times you'll get that error because they want you to buy addons to that suite. Let's not blame a website with no issues on your lack of actual software security.

Miss B ( ) posted Mon, 26 February 2018 at 11:28 AM

I also use Norton 360, and if I don't use the https URL, I can access the site, so they obviously haven't completed the move to a more secure website.

That said, I also use Spybot Search & Destroy 2, which also offers Live Internet protection. I have found Malwarebytes is only good for doing a full scan on my hard drive, not for live online protection.
