Subject: Online licence/key no longer suppoerted

Sigh, some years back I purchased Vue and got a copy of a handy app called City Engine (Vue only version). I've now replaced my old workstation but cannot install City Engine as the new company that took over the original creators will not support my LEGAL copy! As in my key no longer functions. All my apps are legally purchased but these brain dead protections just leave me with an expensive boxed DVD!

How do we activate legally purchased software without breaking the law?

The companies scream that piracy is bad & illegal but then they sabotage and torture their customers with legally purchased software that can no longer be activated! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! Keep in mind this isnt the only app that has run into similar issues.

It may be best to contact their support directly as I doubt they read these forums.

E-On/Bentley were hacked very badly last December to the point that their sites are still not fully up and running with all the functions. That may well be why you can't activate. But I'm sure one of their staff will be able to help you.

E-on is activating Vue manually, and they might have to do the same with your software. Go to this link to see if they can help you.

As I said I have already contacted the companies support and they said no despite supplying both my old key/SN and Invoice!

They are not supporting my copy of the software which means I cannot get a new key/SN to activate my copy.

I can install it I just cant use it.

I know companies want to prevent piracy but the only people impacted by this crap is legal users.

The Pirates are just laughing at this nonsense.

Note This isnt Eon's fault but as the app is locked to Vue in regards to rendering this seemed the most appropriate forum to report this issue.

From here on if software requires online activation I am not purchasing it as this is just the worst of many Automated online licensing nightmares.

Well I be out of touch of Vue for many years - own Vue 6 xStream but recently I got started back into it. I was curious about upgrading my 6 version to new one - Vue 2016 Studio was one I decided - to get since the prices have skyrocked on Vue 0 oddly Lightwave 3d was only $200. Changes in website was interesting and disturbing - could not get me comparison list but got in contact with Walter and notice change in email. So I finally got download from Motion Media and I notice in emails from Walter that he was on holiday in Italy. I also notice that links in Vue did not work - but it been about 48 hours - but I still have not gotten my activation.

I am curious about actual state of Vue and also it relationship with Bentley - hopefully my fully legal license for Vue 2016 Studio will activated - I was thinking about some upgrades - but hearing about possibility of Vue 2018, I think I wait - EcoPainter is probably what I need -not sure Vue is much more complex than the Vue 6 xStream

I received email from Walter and he mention that my activation should be ready soon. he mention that they are turn the servers on - not sure if this means today or after this weekend.

What Walther meant was not "THE SERVERS" in general, just to be clear. Just the servers where the activation keys are created on, the rest is still under reconstruction.
