Right, first question is, how do I get rid of the default scenery that loads up at start? Don't need or want it but I can't select it to delete it.

Congratulations! I wish you a lot of fun with it.

To help you with your first question ( there will be more, believe me) : Set up your preferred scene ( get rid of andy, change the lights, etc. etc.), click edit on the menu bar. Click general preferences. Check on launch behaviour-> launch to preferred scene. and press "Save preferred scene".

If you want your interface to be always the same: click the interface tab and check on launch behaviour-> launch to previous state.

Oh yes and click OK at the bottom.

This is always the first thing I do when I have a new upgrade of poser, I have already to few hairs to pull out.

Happy rendering!

Bopper.

Thanks for that Bopper, but that's stuff I already know. I specifically want to get rid of the scenery thing but there's no way to select it.

All that General Preferences malarkey is second nature, having used Poser since the P4 days. It's that bloody background thing I need to get rid of. Then I can set preferences.

Belay that, I just found out that bloody dome thing is the Ground Plane. Well well. Ground Plane my butt.

Since you've had older versions of poser, load an old scene where the ground plane is actually a plane, set that up how you want your preferred scene to be and save it as such. Or load the startup scene from your old version and use that. You might want to save the original scene in case you need it later.

That's a good idea, RP. I think I'll do just that. 😀

Many thanks.

Now I need to get to grips with Superfly materials. Oh joy.

Go to Scene/Poser 11 Content/ Poser 11 Environments/ and you can chose between the alternate construct, developer's workspace or the Poser 10 Workspace, which only has the ground plane and not that silly dome.

Then you can set up your preferences as you already know how to do...

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

The Construct does have it's uses. seachnasaigh has a sampler set of textures in the freestuff for the ground and sky. Mix and match to your hearts content

Right you are and thanks for the heads up. I always prefer a totally empty workspace by default but it's good to have options.

Congratulations! Tony Vitters has a tutorial on youtube on using posers morph brush on the ground plane that's pretty nice. So you can make hills and such. :) One big thing will be learning about the area lamp setting under light properties and superfly.

The dust settled, thinking "what a fine home, at least for now" not realizing that doom would soon be coming in the form of a vacuum cleaner.
