If I go to the current default headpage at https://www.renderosity.com/, I can find no clear link to the forums. Please insert such a link.

By ferreting about I finally found a link to the forum headpage; it is at https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/

It is pretty easy, just click on Community, then on Forums and if you want all on "All Renderosity"

Yes, that is three clicks .. how about a one-click solution? I have seen several requests for this since the 'overhaul' started, how about giving customers what they actually want?

Jules53757 ( ) posted Wed, 25 April 2018 at 10:00 AM

Well, thats actually 1 click more than before, is that too much? Others find it helpful not to scroll through all forums to reach e. g. the Freestuff forum. The best solution would be to have a surface for each and every user of Rendo so everybody is satisfied with his screen, am I right?

DreaminGirl ( ) posted Wed, 25 April 2018 at 10:11 AM

Yes, that is too much. And for the record, I would appreciate if you would refrain from making fun of your paying customers in the future, intended or not, because that is what you are doing. Time for a customs relations class methinks..

Hint: If customers keep saying they want something, it is a good idea to listen instead of arguing that they are wrong.

Jules53757 ( ) posted Wed, 25 April 2018 at 10:40 AM

This is what I tried to explain, every user has his own needs and ideas so, what can we do, it is not possible to fulfill everybodies wishes and who will say that your idea is the best solution for most users? A design of a webpage is always a compromise between the needs of the company and the wishes of the users. If you buy a car you cn select the color and other things but you are not able to chose the way the gearbox works.

If you have to state that it's easy, then it isn't. Whoever designs this place needs to take some courses on web usability. Yesterday's fiasco trying to access the place (I gave up), demonstrates that nobodies testing things properly, if at all. The new store front page is a great start but the rest needs an enema. If folks are constantly complaining then YOU have the problem, not them...er...us.

Jules53757 ( ) posted Fri, 27 April 2018 at 8:05 AM

Look, Renderosity has about 800,000 registered members, at the moment there are about 3,000 users online and everybody has his own interests and wishes. If you check the forums, there are only a few people complaining about several things so, it couldn't be that bad and, this is not final state, there are a lot of bits and pieces that have to be rebuilt but it takes time and ressources.

Or people have just given up, not only complaining but visiting and shopping. The site is complicated sales don't work as advertised and then its difficult to know if you are in the correct section for what you want; several extra clicks for everything - personally I just won't bother even less than I have.

love the logic

"there are only a few people complaining about several things so, it couldn't be that bad"

considering the Forum population is down to "only a few people" in general.....

That's why nearly 3.000 members are online now. If they ar only shopping it is great but, lot of them are active reading or writing in the forums

Khai-J-Bach ( ) posted Sun, 29 April 2018 at 5:12 AM

Actually checking to see if there is any posts a couple of times a day. More and more, I'm seeing no more than 2-3 posts in a day.... So. 3000 users but 2-3 posts aday...? Tells me the forums are dying.

And Btw the new forum menu system is a right pain in the neck when used from android. Glad I bypass it and use direct links.

It seems testing was either ignored or form over function...

Khai-J-Bach ( ) posted Sun, 29 April 2018 at 5:22 AM

Let's review the experience on Android.

We shall use a galaxy S8 plus, standard Chrome.

So first we find and hit the menu. No hint this is the menu, it's just 3 lines. If you don't know that's the way Google defined it, you won't know what it or where it is.

Now you have a list. Select community.

Another list. Forums.

Another long long long list. Now there is a useful link "all renderosity", you'd think this useful link would be at the top. It's not, it's buried.

So. Lots of scrolling hidden in sub menu after submenu. That's the experience you take away from this....

Oh this would have been formated nicely, but mark(crap) down refused to cooperate....

SheikhalMaktoum ( ) posted Sun, 29 April 2018 at 5:38 AM

I've never trusted the number of forum users listed here. It always seems to hover around the 3000 mark regardless of the time of day. Even on New Year's eve it was the same. I believe it to be nothing more than a marketing ploy to make folks think that there's more people here than there actually are.

Khai-J-Bach ( ) posted Sun, 29 April 2018 at 6:13 AM

It's even more irrelevant when you realise, here on an android device, users online is not even shown...

Oh a few of us have long suspected that user number is false anyway. Users number 3000. Users online page... Just say there ain't 3000 shown. Or a 1000....

There's more to this site besides forums and marketplace. There are the galleries, free stuff, contests, etc. Not everyone comes to the forums. And why would they complain about the site? Many have learned our comments fall on deaf ears. We get the same responses; "We'll look into it and forward it to the programmers", "This is what was asked for" (by some unknown person at some unknown time) or comments like here which equate to "suck it up." Rarely does anything change until the next update. Even the "changes wanted in the community" forum is impossible to use as it has no way to start a thread. (Like putting a suggestion box out but not putting a hole in the lid) And when I said something, I was told it was done intentionally so the moderators can control what is posted there.

I am not going to enter into this discussion, but I’d like to remind everyone that the forums are intended for constructive discussion. The OP’s original question was answered, but now the thread is beginning to degrade to a non-productive conversation, and is possibly even close to violating the TOS. Specifically, destructive, abusive, defamatory communications. I am not going to lock the thread, as there can still be constructive conversation and opinions entered here that could be useful.

All members’ opinions are valued, and if you have specific concerns, you can discuss them here in a positive manner, or use the feedback button to the right. The feedback button sends your concern directly to Admin for review.

Thank you for your consideration and all that every member brings to the community.

Could you send me a screenshot of what you are seeing in 'changes wanted in the community' forum. I'm seeing the ability to create threads, but it could be because I have moderator privileges and am not able to see what you see. I also see the ability to create a thread in the 'suggestion box' forum. If you don't have the ability to create a thread, that is something I can bring up in the next staff meeting; it does seem odd, and I'll be glad to look into it.

I just checked both of those forums wolfenshire, and the Start Thread button is there in both, and when I clicked on each, they brought me to a form to fill out in order to start a new thread, and I'm not a Moderator on this forum.

Here's what I see on the forum. Where the red circle is, there should be a start thread button. The button in the blue circle is new but not helpful.

When you click on the Start thread button in the blue circle, you get sent to another page where there is a drop down to pick which forum to start the thread. Changes wanted is missing

As far as the who is online number, there have been several threads here regarding this and what the number means. The clearest answer I found was from here https://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2901773 where hopeandlove (someone who was once an admin here) states _"As for the number of members on the site, the number in the upper left-hand corner is counting people who have created a profile as well as people who are here viewing the galleries and forums. The number that you see for the "Who's Online" page are members who have created an actual profile." _ Other threads mention this number may include visitors and web crawler as well as members.

FlagonsWorkshop ( ) posted Mon, 30 April 2018 at 3:08 PM · edited Mon, 30 April 2018 at 3:09 PM

I think I know what happened. There is a new box up at the upper right of the screen that allows you to start a new thread in any forum by picking it. That particular forum is not listed. I've got a feeling when they revamped things it was decided to roll that forum into a new one, probably "suggestions". In any case, that particular forum is not listed in the box. In addition the forum says there are 42 threads, of which about 7 can be seen. My bet is you have a programming bug, or an incomplete migration there.

Are you looking for QA people by any chance? (just kidding)

In the Welcome to the Changes wanted in the Community Forum, I do NOT see the green New Thread button I see in all the other forums. I didn't realize until now RedPhantom was talking about a specific forum, so I'm only seeing the new Start Thread button at the upper right, not the green New Thread I see in all the other forums I frequent.

Sorry about the confusion. That's what I get for not reading things through thoroughly.

OK, this is getting weirder. Now I can see the green New Thread button in that forum, BUT I'm no longer seeing the Mark All Read and Start Thread buttons at the top right in ANY forum, especially not the front/main page of the forum, which is where I mark all treads read when I'm ready to leave the forum. ~scratches head~

In fact the whole line is missing, because on the left side there used to be a link I could click to see facts about my presence on the forum, such as how many posts I've made over the years, etc. That's now missing too.
