Subject: Runtime

heyload ( ) posted Tue, 24 July 2018 at 10:03 AM · edited Mon, 26 August 2024 at 4:32 PM

Been a bit since working with Poser. Trying to download, using DAZ install manager, previous purchases to an external drive (passport). Keep getting the response that it doesn't appear to be a "runtime" folder. Have copied the Poser 11 folder and pasted it into the external with the same result. It's probably a simple answer but heck if I can sort this out. Ideas/thoughts appreciated.

OK, I'm not exactly sure what your problem is, but if I'm reading what you've posted correctly, you not only downloaded a product with DIM, you're also trying to install the product with DIM. If that's the case, check to see if you have DIM set up to install to Poser for this particular product, since DIM is set up to install to DAZ|Studio by default.

Also, I would suggest instead of installing with DIM, you use your compression software of choice (7Zip, PowerArchive, WinZip) to unzip the download file to your desktop. That way you can see the folder structure. I haven't purchased anything at DAZ in a while, so don't know if they've changed their folder structure, so if you see a Content folder, the Runtime folder is inside that Content folder, and you would probably do better manually installing from that Runtime folder.

Back in the day, I was on the DIM beta team for DAZ, and to this day, I still manually install any content I download, but I remember having to change the setup for the software to install the download to in order for it to install properly during the testing process.

Copy all and Thanks Much! :) . Just trying to find an expedient way to add the products I'd purchased over the years to an external drive (a "passport" backup drive). The program (Poser) is light years beyond my computer understanding but it's a good distraction while on the road. Appreciate your time, Great Day to Ya'!

Try creating a folder named runtime inside the folder you are installing into.

If heyload is installing into Poser's Runtime, even if it's on an external drive, why would another Runtime folder be needed?

I didn't get the impression the Runtime was not inside the base Poser installation, but I could be wrong.
